Luliang, Qujing, Yunnan Province, discovered a new species of moth, the Wen's golden moss moth

In 2019, Wen Shaokui, a scientific and technological worker and lepidoptera insect researcher in Luliang County, Qujing City, found a moth in Fanghua Town, Luliang County, Qujing City. After expert anatomical identification, it was determined to be a new species that was not named. The appraisers were Huang Siyao, a graduate student of South China Agricultural University, and George E. R. J. Orhant, a French lepidoptera scholar, and the corresponding author was Professor Wang Min.

The new species was named the Wen's golden moss moth Chrysorabdia wenshaokuii Huang, Orhant & Wang, 2019, named after the discoverer. The type specimens are preserved in the Herbarium of South China Agricultural University, and the Wen Shaokui Butterfly Museum of Yunnan Ruida Company also has a full set of specimens of Wen's golden moss moth in different seasons.

The new species is currently known to be distributed in Fanghua Town, Luliang County, Qujing City, and near the Golden Temple in Kunming. The new species is named after Mr. Wen Shaokui, a senior researcher of the local butterfly moth, to express his sincere gratitude for his repeated support of moth research materials. The paper was published on October 26, 2016 in the 25th supplement to the Journal of the Butterfly Japanese Moth Society, Tinea. The original manuscript of the paper is as follows:

In September 2019, The Wen Shaokui Butterfly Hall of Ruida Company was recognized as a science popularization demonstration education base and a youth science popularization education base by the Luliang County Science and Technology Association and the Luliang County Customs Work Committee.
