Legend has it that in the time of the Shennong clan, human beings have multiplied a lot, and they can no longer fill their stomachs by hunting alone, and there are often people in the clan who can't get food and get sick or even starve to death, and people are in extreme distress.
In this case, Shen Nongshi appeared, and he looked at the people's starvation life, and his heart was very sad, so he decided to find a way to ensure that human beings could survive. He looked at the dense trees and flowers that spread over the mountains, and suddenly he had a chance to move, why do people always eat meat? Can't the fruit stems and leaves of these trees be eaten? So, for the sake of mankind, he decided to taste the taste of these wild plants, to determine which ones could be eaten, delicious, and which could not be eaten, and he collected all kinds of fruits, seeds and rhizomes and leaves, the same kind of tasting, in the process, he found that some things were particularly delicious, some things were difficult to swallow, and some things tasted good, but they made people dizzy, vomiting and diarrhea, and he recorded these in detail.
He overcame many difficulties, overcame all kinds of dangers, and found a lot of food for mankind, but he was not satisfied, he saw that many people often had to go a long way in order to eat delicious plants, he thought, can you grow it in front of your own home? He found that after people threw the cores on the ground, new shoots and new fruits grew the following year, and later he found that the growth of these plants was related to the weather and the land, so he instructed people to artificially cultivate plants, so that they could systematically collect fruit seeds as food to supplement the lack of hunting.
Since Shennong tasted hundreds of herbs and taught the people to farm, human life has a great guarantee, with the increasing proficiency of agricultural production technology, more and more agricultural products are produced, and gradually there are surplus products, so there is an exchange relationship, every time the sun is noon, people will take excess things to the market in exchange for the goods they need, the idiom "the city in the middle of the day" is derived from this.
Of course, the story of Fuxi and Shennong is also a myth, but it reflects the process of human production and life development in ancient times, we know that human beings solve the problems of residence, food and other issues are the result of gradually accumulating experience in the struggle with the natural world, which includes human exploration, struggle, failure, people know little to know more, so that life is not perfect and improved, and finally succeeds.
