As we all know, the butterfly is a completely metamorphosed insect that needs to go through several stages of egg → larva → pupae → adults, compared to the beautiful appearance after becoming an adult, the butterfly in the pupa stage is simply too rustic. And the pupae of the general butterfly looks extremely ugly, and it is simply a shadow in the heart, and it will not be released here.
However, in the Mexican rainforest, there is a butterfly called the Mechanitis polymnia, the goddess of the hymn, and its pupa is actually "made of pure gold", which is known for its golden chrysalis like metal armor.
But don't look at their pupae so high-end atmosphere on the grade, the butterflies that come out of it are like this.
What do you think? Is it similar to a normal butterfly?
As for why this is the case, it is said that this pupa can reflect the pattern in the surrounding environment, thus blurring the outline and achieving the effect of visual invisibility.
