The white-eyed diving duck ( scientific name : Aythya nyroca ) is a bird of the genus Dipter in the family Phyllodidae. Rounded body, large head, rarely chirping, for deep-water birds, good at folding wings diving. Omnivorous, feeding mainly on aquatic plants and fish, shrimp and shellfish. The head, neck, chest and flanks of the male are thick chestnut and the eyes are white; the female is dark brown with pale eyes. The waist and tail coverts are black.
