The Pacific Cockroach (xi) turtle, also known as the red tortoise, the red sea turtle, the spirit turtle, the spirit turtle, the mouth cockroach, etc., is one of the two subspecies of the turtle (the other is the Atlantic turtle). It is a huge sea turtle, but also the oldest living reptile, their body length can reach 2 meters, weight can exceed 200 pounds, in China mainly distributed in the South China Sea, East China Sea and other seas. Due to the impact of predatory indiscriminate hunting and indiscriminate killing, large-scale digging of turtle eggs, etc., the population of loggerheads has been sparse. In order to protect them, China has listed them as a key protected wild animal at the national level, and hunting, transshipment, trade, etc. are prohibited, and violators will be severely punished by law.
Recently, the masses in Dongshan County, Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, reported to the police that they accidentally caught a large turtle that broke into the net to feed in the process of fishing row fishing operations. After receiving the police, the coastal defense brigade immediately joined the Zhangzhou Coast Guard Bureau and the marine fisheries department to rush to the scene.
This turtle is huge, reddish-brown throughout, with a hook-like beak on the upper and lower jaws, symmetrical scales on the back of the head, flattened limbs and flipper-footed limbs, and a short tail. After careful identification by professionals, it was confirmed that this sea turtle was the Same Pacific Loggerhead Turtle, which had just been promoted to a national key protected wildlife this year.
Measured, the Pacific tortoise is 107 cm long, 68 cm wide and weighs 125 pounds. Through a comprehensive physical examination, it was found that there was no obvious trauma to his body, and his mental state was good, which was suitable for release conditions. In order to avoid it being trapped by the breeding facility again or mistakenly catching, the staff of various departments subsequently took the Pacific tortoise to the waters of Dongmen Island, and successfully released it into the sea under the witness of the media.
