At the scene of the event, Gao Qingying, deputy director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Guangdong Province, said that the conservation of aquatic biological resources such as breeding and stocking is to promote the sustainable use of fishery resources in natural waters. During the fishing moratorium, breeding and stocking activities in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Qingyuan and other places have been carried out successively. The theme of today's breeding and stocking activities is to conserve aquatic organisms and build a beautiful China. The cumulative stocking of about 15 million species of aquatic species including eels and Guangdong bream in Tonggutan, Jiujiang Town, Nanhai District, Foshan City, will play an important role in restoring the fishery population of the Pearl River and improving the ecological environment of the Pearl River waters.

It is understood that the stockings of the rivers covered economic fish species in the Xijiang River Basin (including crucian carp fry, Pearl River grass carp fry, Guangdong bream fry, bighead carp fry, yellow jaw fry, grass carp, etc.), as well as the characteristic fish species of the Xijiang River Basin (including spotted eel fry, eel fry, light inverted catfish fry, barbed catfish fry, long-rumped fish fry, etc.). All fish fry stocked must comply with the relevant national and provincial regulatory requirements such as the Regulations on the Administration of The Proliferation and Stocking of Aquatic Organisms.

In order to enhance the scientificity, feasibility and pertinence of the stocking and stocking activities, and to ensure that the stocked fry species belong to the original fishery resources of the Xijiang River, the quality is excellent, the source is clear, and the survival rate is high, the 2021 Guangdong Province (Foshan) River Breeding and Stocking Activity Fish Fry Acceptance Team was established, which is composed of experts from scientific research institutes, fishermen's representatives, notary offices and other personnel, responsible for supervising the species, specifications, quantity, sources and quality of the fairly released fish at the event site, and implementing fair acceptance. At the same time, the quarantine and inspection of official aquatic seedlings has been organized, and a comprehensive quarantine and inspection of released fish has been carried out to ensure the safety and quality of released fish.

These two titles are evaluated and awarded by the China Aquatic Products Circulation and Processing Association after the process of data review, field investigation, report inquiry, academic discussion, and publicity.

Jiujiang has more than 500 years of aquaculture history and was recognized as the "Hometown of Freshwater Fry in China" in 2011. Over the years, Jiujiang Town has adhered to the principle of innovation and high-quality development, fully explored the regional advantages of the aquaculture industry, and the annual output and total output value of aquaculture have increased year by year, reaching 100,000 tons and 1.4 billion yuan in 2020. The number of freshwater fish species is large, and there are more than 30 main hatched species in recent years; the market share of the main breeding species is large, of which the annual output of raw fish fry is about 1.5 billion, accounting for 35-40% of the national output; the annual output of California perch fry is 15 billion, accounting for about 60% of the national output, the breeding area is 10,000 mu, the output of commercial fish is more than 40,000 tons, the total output value is about 520 million yuan, and the logistics and distribution volume is more than 800,000 jin per day, which is the national California perch distribution center.
