While fighting the epidemic, don't forget about the love dragon, these must not be neglected

On the premise, in fact, there is a lot of nonsense, and you can probably guess it from the speed of the link you open. If you don't have time to read word for word, it is recommended to collect it first, just in case of emergency, I believe that among these things I have written, there is always something you want. The picture is from the network, and I hope to bear it.

1. PH shock of Arowana

When arowana is kept in a closed environment, the most important thing is to maintain the quality of the water used for feeding. Just opened the tank, aquarium, filter tank and filter media are brand new, fish tank water needs to be filtered after several weeks of circulation, and gradually become suitable for fish water quality. Because the arowana feeds on animal high-protein bait, the aquarium will gradually accumulate arowana excrement and residual bait, etc., the water body of the fish tank will gradually deteriorate, ammonia and nitrite will be transformed into nitrate harmless to the arowana due to the nitrification of the filter tank, and the result of nitrate accumulation is that the PH value will decrease.

The water quality suitable for dragon fish is weak acidic soft water or medium hard water with a PH value of 6.0 to 7.0, and once the PH value drops below 6.0, it is a healthy living water quality for arowana fish, and gradually becomes an uncomfortable environment. Arowana will exert its ability to adapt to water quality, but if the PH value drops below 5.0, or rises above 8.5, when it is extremely acidic or extremely alkaline, it will cause acidosis and alkalosis. Therefore, for safety reasons, the safe range of THE PH value is between 5.8 and 7.5.

The symptoms of acidosis are the result of the obstruction of the blood function of the arowana to transport oxygen, and the result of the secretion of a large amount of mucus from the gills, resulting in difficulty breathing or falling into a state of weakness in suspending on the surface of the water, or the appearance of white film on the eyes; in severe cases, the eyes are covered with white film and secrete mucus from the gills, and sometimes the fin spines of each fish will split apart. As a result of the increase in the pH value, ammonia in the water is not easily converted into nitrite, which causes symptoms of ammonia poisoning.

As mentioned above, the PH value of feeding water can be used as an important indicator to judge the health of arowana, so once you start raising arowana, it is best to check the pH of feeding water regularly. From the current situation of tap water in China, it is not difficult to maintain the water quality suitable for dragon fish, as long as enough filtration equipment is installed and the water is changed regularly, stable water quality can be maintained.

It may seem or sound like anyone can change the water regularly and appropriately, but the method varies greatly depending on the breeding environment of each breeder. For example: the size of the fish tank, the total weight of the water body, the local tap water quality, the type of bait, the feeding method, the filtration equipment and equipment, the fish tank feeding density and so on. These factors are different, which will lead to different amounts of water transfer. When you first start raising Arowana, you should pay attention to the condition of the Arowana and the degree of dirtiness of the filter cotton.

In the breeding of various tropical fish, the problem of PH shock is often heard. The most important thing is not to cause a sudden change in the pH difference of more than 2.0. In case of this, arowana or other species of ornamental fish will show symptoms of shock; in severe cases, they will swim wildly and crash into the fish tank, and even jump the tank repeatedly. Doing so for a long time will lead to the sudden death of the arowana.

Therefore, we must prepare a PH detector every day, the human eye has no way to predict the PH value, and there is no experience to be trusted. Daily according to the fluctuation of PH to change the water, in order to stabilize the control of the PH value of the fish tank.

2. When the water body is aging, it may cause diseases

When there is no water change for a long time, the PH value of the feeding water changes, and the scales are more common. Scales, one of the diseases that often occur when there is PH shock, or a sudden change in water temperature, or when the concentration of ammonia or nitrite rises. The initial symptom is that several body scales are slightly erect, and if they are not treated, the best Arowana will die. The earlier it is detected, the higher the cure rate.

The general response method is to change about 1/5 of the water, according to the water body to put different amounts of sea salt, to reach three-thousandths of a concentration can be; add Japanese yellow powder, in order to prevent the decline in the body of the arowana infection will appear; add water quality stabilizers, in order to temporarily make the water quality environment easy to be accepted by the arowana. Finally, according to the actual situation, add Aushen No. 5 or antibiotics, generally recommended Aushen No. 5, if there is no effect, it is recommended to use antibiotics. Such as: penicillin, oxytetracycline, gentamicin and so on. During the medicinal bath, the appetite of the arowana will decrease, and the digestive ability will become worse, in order to avoid causing unnecessary trouble, please stop feeding, and heat up about two degrees, turn off the lights and rest.

Neglect of water change may also lead to ocular mussels caused by aerogenes, in which the eyeball protrudes greatly. If severe, the mortality rate is above 90%. The treatment is similar to that of the scales, except that the amount of yellow powder can be increased.

3, Body surface infection

When the amount of water turnover does not keep up, or the filter tank has caused overflow phenomenon but does not clean up, the concentration of nitrite in the feeding water increases, and harmful substances accumulate in the water and the body surface infection occurs. The symptom is that the outer edge of the scales begins to dissolve first, and the holes located on the lateral line will enlarge, and in severe cases, the head will also be perforated. If the blood spots appear on the side of the body, especially around the abdomen, the condition is quite serious; if you suffer from typical acidosis, you must first improve the water quality, try to prevent the disease from expanding, and then put a certain amount of yellow powder for treatment.

4. Gill syndrome

Bending the gills or curling up the gills and causing deformation can damage the appearance of the arowana, which is also caused by the water quality. The reason for the problem is that it is kept in a narrow aquarium and changed less water; it can also occur when the water flow is too weak, which is arguably one of the most ugly symptoms in appearance.

When raising Arowana, it is necessary to prepare a tank that is more than three times the length of the individual Arowana, and the height and width should be sufficient. If it is raised in a small aquarium, it is often filtered smaller, the amount of water is insufficient, and the water quality is easy to cause dirt.

Deterioration of water quality can easily lead to gill bending phenomenon, dissolved oxygen is also prone to occur when the amount of dissolved oxygen is insufficient, so in order to increase the amount of dissolved oxygen, the use of submerged water motor to produce a stronger water flow method, but also to prevent the occurrence of the disease.

The so-called flipped gills refer to the phenomenon that when the gill wings are breathing, the normal opening and closing turns to bend forward. If left unattended, sometimes even the main gill cap will be pulled by the gill wing and bent.

Once the gills are bent and hardened, they usually cannot recover, but surgery can be performed. Method: Anesthesia is given first, and then the curved gill wing is cut off. After a while, new gill wings will be able to grow. During the recovery period, we must pay attention to maintaining good water quality, and can use the wave pump to form a higher intensity of water flow, which is more conducive to the recovery of gills.

5. Rotten fins and rotten gills

The disease that is easy to occur when the water is not prepared for feeding is the columnar syndrome commonly found in the feeding of arowana, which is generally called "rotten fin rot gill disease", and the arowana shows symptoms that begin to dissolve from the end of the fin. This is usually due to the fact that the filtration effect has not yet worked, or a large number of water changes and the filtration function is out of balance. Therefore, this situation generally occurs shortly after the arowana is bought back, and after a large number of water changes. The treatment method is more common is to add three-thousandths of a concentration of sea salt, and the addition of Japanese yellow powder can see gradual improvement; in the case of bad conditions, it is recommended to use Aoshen No. 3 and add a water quality stabilizer.

6. Eye prolapse

Dragon fish, especially silver dragons and Asian dragon fish, are common individuals with severely downward-facing eyes, commonly known as "dropped eyes". The specific reason can actually be guessed, and it is not unrelated to our fish tank.

Our fish tank is transparent at least one side, the general family fish tank is transparent on three sides, and the fish tank has its own bottom cabinet to facilitate the placement of the filter tank so it has a certain height, in this case, the arowana will habitually look out and down. When the amount of feeding is too large, it is easy to accumulate eye fat, and the phenomenon of "eye loss" that cannot be naturally recovered is formed for a long time. But this is only a few personal opinions, and it does not have much authoritative value. But what is certain is that the silver dragon and the Asian dragon fish are more likely to appear eye loss, while the black belt and Australian star point from South America will not appear even if they are raised under the same living conditions.

The most important thing to prevent eye loss is to remove the cause, once the dragon fish loses its eyes, it is really difficult to treat it, so it is recommended to do a good job of prevention at the beginning of the dragon breeding and pay attention to it often. In order to prevent reflection from the bottom glass, laying black or gray tiles on the bottom of the fish tank is a method with certain effects.

For Arowana eyes, illumination is also an important factor. Illumination should not be too intense or too low light, use light of appropriate illumination. I recommend going directly to the philips 865 natural white light tube with excellent cost performance instead of USing LED tubes. The LED lights sold on the market are all lamp beads emitting light, and the brightness of individual lamp beads is extremely high, and it is difficult for the human eye to look directly, not to mention the dragon fish.

Then there's the advice on feeding – feed less and don't let the Arowana eat too much nutrients. Most players play Arowana in order to pursue the domineering shape of the Arowana, and throw a lot of bait, causing the Arowana to be obese, which is far from the shape of the Arowana in the wild.

There are many videos online of surgical removal of fat attached to the back of the eyeball, which is technically demanding and has a high risk factor without experience, so I don't recommend trying it yourself. Or my point of view, losing eyes is not a disease, if there is no obsessive-compulsive disorder, you can adjust your mentality and accept the small imperfections of your love for dragons.

7, ectoparasites

Common external parasites are proteosomes, fish lice and anchorworms.

Anchorworm is a very common external parasite of tropical ornamental fish, often parasitizing between the scales of Arowana, fins, body side and ventral side, etc., which is easily identifiable to the naked eye. However, even if the anchor worm parasitizes on the Arowana, it will not cause the Arowana to die, but it will damage the fish body, the parasite site will be red and swollen due to infection, and when there is too much parasitism, the Arowana will have symptoms of rubbing the tank.

While fighting the epidemic, don't forget about the love dragon, these must not be neglected

Anchor worms generally parasitize small fish fed to Arowana, and they invade the tank during feeding and then parasitize Arowana. Especially in spring and autumn, the number of small fish parasitic increases, and the chance of arowana being parasitic increases. For safety reasons, small fish can be frozen and fed when they need to be fed. Personally, I have always thought that feeding live bait would be better for Arowana, more conducive to increasing the brightness of Arowana's scales, and that Arowana's feeding enthusiasm would be higher. Everything has advantages and disadvantages, and the specific choice is still up to you. However, if there are people who insist on feeding small fish like me, it is generally recommended that after the small fish are bought back, they are raised separately, dewormed, and the yellow powder and sea salt are released, which can effectively reduce the risk of arowana being parasitic.

The more conventional method of insect removal is generally to release the exodus agent in the whole tank, fish out for anesthesia, and then surgically remove the visible parasite. Fisheries are more commonly used is Hypertherm's "Fumarin" potion, but the effect is too strong, generally do not recommend that players use alone, no experience, it is easy to cause excessive drug release and lead to Arowana drug poisoning, serious will lead to Arowana violent death, more moderate is AoShen No. 0.

Because the fish lice are easy to leave the fish body, the operation does not have much effect, and the Arowana can be directly bathed.

Protein worms can also be used in the method of medicinal bathing. In fact, there is a more effective way, that is, to raise a few colorful fish tanks, and put two small blue dragons in the bottom filter tank.

8. Visceral diseases and diving symptoms

Arowana visceral diseases can occasionally devastate beautiful individuals, such as a gradual swelling of the lower abdomen, usually caused by nutritional factors, and it is too late to notice. Fisheries have previously experienced a whole swarm of fish with a gradual swelling under the abdomen due to the daily feeding of loach. Therefore, it is recommended to feed the loach to the arowana not too full and not to feed too often. Treatment can be done with oxytetracycline or other gastrointestinal medications, but be prepared, as it is likely to be in vain.

The symptom of diving is often referred to as "sinking head", that is, the body loses balance, the head is facing down, and the tail is floating up. Arowana fry are common at about 18 cm for several reasons: one is gastrointestinal problems, indigestion or not getting used to the new breed of bait; the other is due to the urgency caused by handling, resulting in swim bladder lesions. We often encounter heavy heads in the fishing grounds, but this is not completely incurable, you can change small tanks to take a low water level method to slowly improve; but again, there is a high probability of doing useless work. However, there will be hope after trying, do nothing, there is no hope.

9. Arowana white spot

White spot disease in Arowana generally presents in and around the fins. The treatment method is generally to heat up to about 31 degrees, and the targeted drugs such as "white spot net" are released, which can generally be cured in three to five days.

10. Dragon fish head hole disease

It is the excess hole in the head of the dragon fish, which is generally to change the water first, and then put in the "super strong hormone" or "Heli Sandman" of the illusion for medicinal baths. Arowana multivitamin can be added to the bait fed to promote recovery. If the condition is more severe, the hole can be surgically scraped out after anesthesia, not too hard, or to enlarge the wound too much. Apply yellow powder after scraping to prevent infection.
