White-lipped deer, genus of deer in the genus Eucalyptus subfamily Even-hoofed deer family. It is a typical alpine animal with a habitat altitude of between 3000-5000 meters. The main feature is the whiteness of the sides of the nose, the lower lip, and the lower jaw. The buttocks have pale yellow patches, but no black dorsal lines and white spots, also known as "yellow-rumped deer". It is an endemic species of China, a national first-class protected animal, and is only distributed in the alpine grasslands of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and its marginal areas. Moving in clusters, the size of the group varies depending on the season and habitat.

It is similar in size to the red deer, but slightly smaller than the red deer, with a body length of 100-190 cm, a shoulder height of 110-130 cm, and a weight of 130-200 kg. The tail is the shortest of the large deer, only 10-15 cm. The head is slightly isosceles in shape, the forehead is broad and flat, and the ears are long and pointed. The infraorbital glands are large and deep and very pronounced. Winter body hair is dark brown with small maroon spots; summer hair is darker in color, yellowish brown in color, and the abdomen is light yellow. The body hair is long and coarse, the warmth is good, and it can resist wind and snow. Only the stag has horns, and the main trunk of the horn is flattened.
He prefers to move between forest clearings and forest edges, and his sense of smell and hearing is very sensitive. The hooves are wider than other deer and are suitable for climbing mountains, sometimes even bare rock cliffs. He is also good at swimming and can cross the wide water surface with turbulent flow. There is a phenomenon of vertical migration, and the summer is basically spent on the alpine grassland, and the winter avoids the snowy area and moves to the bush forest. Foraging in the morning and dusk, feeding mainly on grasses and sedges. Mating and breeding from October to November each year, the males in estrus are fierce, and a single male can possess multiple females.
