There is such a place in the west of our country:

Here is the legendary Liu Sanjie,

Her song crosses the enchanting eight gui land,

Convergence into a colorful sound cavity,

Voice feminine song sea...

Composer and Music Director

Huang Hui is a famous composer and music producer in contemporary China. In 1990, he graduated from the Composition and Conducting Department of Shanghai Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Professors Chen Mingzhi and Yang Liqing. He is currently a professional composer, a visiting professor at Nanjing University of the Arts, and a commissioned composer of the China Symphony Orchestra.

Since the end of the 1990s, Huang Hui has attracted the attention of the Chinese and international music scenes for his continuous creation and publication of vocal suite "Su Wu Muyang" (sung by singer Li Na) and the world music suite "South of the Clouds". His musical compositions are classified in the "World Music" style. But what attracts more attention is the maverick creative concept he has always adhered to: walking alone in various ethnic areas of China for a long time, integrating into the breadth of people's livelihood and folklore, and drawing on in-depth cultural and artistic nourishment. Thus forming a musical language rich in imagination and dialectics. Nearly 20 chinese music series he has created and published have had a wide international impact and won national awards.

Huang Hui was once selected for the music composition group of the closing ceremony of the 29th Olympic Games. In 2007, he was awarded the "Special Award for Music Creation" at the 6th China Golden Disc Awards, and in September 2015, he was awarded the "Outstanding Contribution Songwriter Award" at the "China Original Music Tribute Ceremony" sponsored by the China Audio-Visual Society and the Pop Music Society of the Chinese Music Association, which awarded a total of 100 outstanding people who have made an important impact on the Chinese recording industry in the new era.

Li Xiaopei, a famous recording engineer in China, has been engaged in recording work for nearly 30 years, and is now the chief sound recordist of the audio department of China Central Television.

In recent years, Li Xiaopei has recorded soundtracks for many famous films. Film music such as "No Seeing, Not Leaving", "My Father and Mother", "Happy Times" and other film music was recorded by him. He also has a number of audiophile CD recordings, such as "Xiang Feast", "Bamboo Yin", "Yanhuang First Drum", "Mongoliania" and other good films are his recording works. He also served as the chief sound recordist of CCTV's "Spring Festival Gala" for many years.

Li Xiaopei's recording creation is good at the nuanced identification and expression of sound, as well as the macro grasp of the overall sound appearance of musical works. The recording production of this film "Ballad of Gui" fully reflects his recording concept and comprehensively demonstrates his talent for sound creation.

Musical style

"Audiovisual Finger North" composed by Huang Hui and li Xiaopei recorded and remixed "Ballad of Gui" (15th Anniversary Edition)

The music of this album not only strengthens the character of Guangxi folk music, but also has a prominent personality and a strong scenery of the times. The whole work is completed in one go, and it is full of twists and turns; it is refreshing and endlessly evocative. "The Ballad of Gui", which is another national music masterpiece created by the famous musician Huang Hui after "South of the Clouds", "Mountain of Heaven", "Grand Canyon of the East" and "Mongolia", another collection of fashion and tradition.

More than ten ethnic groups in Guangxi, which have lived side by side for thousands of years, have formed a unique regional culture. Folk songs are the most representative and glorious ingredients of Guangxi's national art. Guangxi people have never hesitated to call this water and soil "Gehai".

Although they have different styles attached to different folk customs, such as: the "swinging song platform" of the Han nationality, the "song wei" of the Zhuang ethnic group, the "jumping plate king" of the Yao ethnic group, the "sitting moon song" of the Dong ethnic group, the "walking slope" of the Mulam ethnic group, the "song slope" of the Maonan ethnic group, the "singing Ha" of the Jing ethnic group, the "sitting sister" of the Miao ethnic group, and so on, the folk songs of various ethnic groups have gradually taken on the same format in the process of mutual exchange and penetration, one is that in terms of content, most of them use improvisational lyrics and casually answering songs, and second, in form, almost all ethnic groups have the tradition of multi-voice singing. This makes Guangxi's "Gehai" a fresh and dazzling flower in the Chinese National Art Garden.

Although Guangxi's folk songs have been sung for generations and refined by thousands of hammers, in recent years, due to the impact of modern urban culture, folk song art has shown obvious declines and discontinuities.

The main point of the planning of this album is to use new ideas and musical languages to create a new life of folk music on the traditional soil of Guangxi folk songs, create a new river of Modern Chinese rural folk music brands, and make the ancient "Song Sea" shine and regenerate.
