Taipei, 4 Sep (Xinhua) -- The 12th Cross-Strait Film Festival in Taipei opened on 4 September, with many mainland films, such as "The Northeast Tiger" and "Samurai Order," exhibiting in the exhibition. As the first physical film festival in Taiwan after the downgrading of the new crown epidemic, the opening ceremony of this film festival attracted a number of Taiwanese filmmakers to support it, and fans responded warmly to mainland films coming to Taiwan for screening, and tickets for many movies were quickly sold out.

In August, Li Qiankuan, a famous mainland director, and Li Xing, a famous director from Taiwan, passed away one after another, both of whom were the initiators of the cross-strait film festival. At the opening ceremony on the 4th, Taiwanese filmmakers expressed their remembrance and respect for these two predecessors.

Affected by the epidemic, the 12th Cross-Strait Film Exhibition, which was supposed to be held last year, was postponed by one year, and the on-site exchange of filmmakers on both sides of the strait was cancelled. Director Zhu Yanping, acting chairman of Taiwan's Cross-Strait Film Exchange Committee, encouraged Taiwan filmmakers that although they cannot go to the mainland for exchanges this year, it does not matter, everyone is still young, insist on filming, and the platform for cross-strait film exchanges will always serve everyone.

The films screened in Taiwan this time include "The Northeast Tiger," "Samurai Order," "See You Again in Nara," and "Just a Fortuitous Trip," as well as a mainland literary documentary "The Moon of Water in Hand, which was filmed in cooperation between the two sides of the strait." It is reported that the Beijing venue of this cross-strait film exhibition began to be screened on the 2nd, and the Taiwanese films exhibited include "The Painting of Evil", "Second Half", "Silent", "Hearing Taiwan" and a restored version of Director Li Xing's 1972 work "Autumn Decision".

At the opening ceremony of the Taipei show, the main creators of Taiwanese films whose works are being screened in Beijing include Chen Yongxi, director of "Painting of Evil", actor Dong Mingxiang, director of "Second Half" Zhang Rongji and actors Fan Shaoxun and Duan Junhao, "Silent" actor Liu Ziquan, and "Hearing Taiwan" director Cui Yonghui, etc., who expressed their support; Taiwanese director Chen Chuanxing of "Water Moon in Hand" became the only representative of mainland films participating in the exhibition.

Duan Junhao, an actor in "The Second Half", studied at the Beijing Film Academy more than a decade ago, and the film he participated in met with mainland film fans for the first time, and he said that he must inform his friends to seize the rare opportunity to watch. Fan Shaoxun, another actor who starred in the film, said that although it was a pity that he could not follow the film to Beijing to promote it this year, he believed that the emotion and positive energy brought by the film could be transmitted to mainland film fans and friends.

It is understood that the organizers of this year's film festival in Taipei will also arrange a cross-strait film symposium in the form of video connection, with the theme of "When we walk together, the new trend of cross-strait films in the post-epidemic period" is ".
