Wang Shunhong first led all the new students to review the 125-year history of Southwest Jiaotong University. He pointed out that Southwest Jiaotong University was born of railways, prospered because of tracks, and strong because of high-speed railways. Over the past 125 years, the school's educational process has been difficult and tortuous, after eighteen migrations, eighteen renamings, the majority of teachers, students and alumni under the guidance of the spirit of "solid and vigorous, self-improvement" Jiaotong University, always breathe with the country, the nation and the school, share the fate, not afraid of wind and rain, more and more frustrated, pass on the torch, forge ahead. The school has successively cultivated many overseas renowned talents and industry giants such as Mao Yisheng, Zhu Kezhen, Lin Tongyan, Huang Wanli, Chen Nengkuan, etc., and created a team of teachers who "cannot be dragged out and smashed" represented by Luo Zhongchen and other "five elders" of Jiaotong University. Wang Shunhong fondly recalled the red genes in the blood of Southwest Jiaotong University.
