"Typing used to be slow, but now it's much faster." Mr. Ning said he had learned not only to use a computer to look up books, but also to make documents with word. He demonstrated to reporters the process of making a Mid-Autumn Festival document: enter the words "Mid-Autumn Festival", add borders, choose hollow words, and skillfully edit the content of the text.
Tang Jingjing, 11, is editing a poster with her Choice of Spring Festival theme. "I usually play in front of the computer, but this time I learned to edit posters and write letters in the library."
Yu Yang, the person in charge of the activity, told reporters that the summer camp focused on the theme of "Reading China, Delighting growth", teaching computer knowledge to 40 students of Beijing Hua'ao School, with a total of 10 lessons, including "Library Exploration", "Computer Basic Knowledge", "Knowledge of Knowledge Database Introduction and Application Practice", "Application Practice of Changzhi Classic Recitation Platform" and so on. The students who participated in the training were all children of migrant workers, aged 11 to 15, and the children did not have many daily access to computers, and their use of computers was limited to playing games and browsing the web. According to her, the training also opened a "letter to the 18-year-old self" link, which was turned in and sealed in the library after the course was completed, and opened after the students turned 18.
Fan Yaling, director of Xicheng District Library, said, "By explaining cutting-edge information technology knowledge, the library improves the ability of migrant children and students to use information technology to solve problems, guides everyone to use computers correctly, cultivates self-learning awareness, and improves information literacy." She said such events will also be held on a regular basis.
