Comrade Wu Zhiyuan, a retired cadre of the Beijing Garrison District and former political commissar of the General Staff Bureau, died in Beijing on June 27, 2018 at the age of 97 due to illness.
Comrade Wu Zhiyuan, a native of Lixian County, Hebei Province, was born in November 1921, joined the revolution in October 1937, enlisted in the army in January 1938, and joined the Communist Party of China in October 1940. He successively served as the director and political commissar of the fourth division of the headquarters of the 19th Corps of the Chinese Volunteer Army, the commander of the artillery of the 63rd Army, and the chief of staff and deputy commander of the Tianjin Garrison District.
