WorldSkills Museum infuses "Youth Power"

Yu Ke

Recently, the Executive Board of the 46th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai ushered in a special batch of "new students". 23 teenagers aged 10 to 18 participated in the 2021 WorldSkills Museum Youth Power Certificate Presentation and Training Event, officially becoming part of the WorldSkills Museum. Since the launch of the Youth Force Recruitment Campaign on August 5, it has lasted nearly 2 months, and after several rounds of fierce competition such as popularity voting, first face and final face, they have stood out from more than 130 teenagers. Next, "Youth Power" will start from the first task, "The First Impression of the World Skills Museum", play its strengths in publicity activities such as the Fun Campus Tour of Skills, and embark on a skills journey with the World Skills Museum.

A "youth activity": the concept of a skill park is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people

For a museum dedicated to delivering the concept of "skills make dreams, skills change lives" to young people around the world, telling the story of the world's skills must involve teenagers. In 2020, the WorldSkills Museum launched the "Youth Anchor Group" recruitment activity for the first time, and 8 teenagers from primary schools, middle schools, high schools, vocational schools and universities in Shanghai participated in the online and offline publicity activities of the Cinderumnum through photogenic hosting, live broadcast recommendation, punch card leader, etc., and won a good social reputation. In 2021, on the basis of the 2020 "Ox Knife Trial", the WorldSkills Museum "NEED YOU! Youth Power Recruitment " fully upgraded.

●The first youth media people, youth navigators, bilingual groups of teenagers emerged

In order to more widely mobilize young people to contribute to the construction of the World Skills Museum, the World Skills Museum has added many new ideas when planning the "Youth Power" recruitment campaign. It is understood that this recruitment activity is aimed at 10-22-year-old teenagers across the country, looking for 10 youth spokesmen, 10 youth media people and 3 youth navigators who are willing to undertake the publicity and promotion task of the World Skills Museum.

Among them, the "Youth Spokesperson" selection with the young anchor as the prototype has added a bilingual group this year, and many students from schools such as the World Chinese Secondary School and the University of Leeds have flashed among them. He Houzhen of The World Chinese Middle School introduced the advantages of his school in fluent English and imagined the future as a docent at the World Skills Museum, and his English expression level was admired by the professional judges.

In addition, the event innovatively added the selection of "Youth Media People" and "Youth Navigators". Youth media people are responsible for writing promotional notes, taking photos, producing short videos, etc., and depicting the World Skills Museum to their peers from the perspective of teenagers. The youth navigators are all the presidents of student unions or clubs recommended by each school, and have a certain influence and can use their own appeal to plan and organize publicity activities inside and outside the student group.

●For the first time, the school recommendation channel was opened, and the recruitment interview was "targeted"

It is reported that last year's small anchor recruitment all adopted the recruitment method of social self-recommendation, and this year, for the first time, the combination of social self-recommendation and school recommendation was adopted, which further expanded the youth group.

Among them, the social self-recommendation channel covers the whole country, a total of 43 schools from students signed up for this recruitment activity; the school recommendation channel, using the method of first screening in the school, and then limiting the recommendation, 15 schools such as Lansheng Fudan Middle School recommended more than 80 students to participate in the candidates, of which there are also many candidates from vocational colleges such as Shanghai Commercial and Trade Tourism School with their own "skill value".

After several rounds of competition, 23 "Youth Power" stood out from more than 130 young candidates. Next, "Youth Power" will officially speak out on behalf of the World Skills Museum after receiving professional training.

It is worth mentioning that the interview forms of this recruitment activity are diverse, and on-site interviews, leaderless group discussions, impromptu speeches, etc. are set up for the recruitment type. For example, at the first meeting venue, the candidates of young media people independently conducted photography, video shooting, contestants and expert interviews, and truly achieved "seeing the World Skills Museum from the perspective of teenagers".

●The museum has gained more than 130 "little fans", and the concept of skills has penetrated deeply into teenagers

The Youth Power Recruitment Campaign established a good image of the World Skills Museum, not only the 23 final selected teenagers became interested in skills, but also gained more than 130 small fans in the course of the event. The process of preparing for the interview and interacting with the judges is a process from gradually getting to know the circumference to falling in love with the citrossum. Many parents said after the event that after two rounds of interviews, their children were not only full of expectations for the opening of the museum, but also had a high interest in skills. A parent said, "The child was particularly excited on the way home from the interview, and when he saw a craft shop on the way, he began to ask me if he could also see such exhibits in the technical museum in the future, and thanked the organizers for giving the children such a good exercise opportunity."

A "youth competition": more than 130 teenagers competed on the same stage, and wonderful shots appeared frequently

It is understood that the world skills museum "youth power" recruitment activities are fiercely competitive, but also let the professional judges shout "tangled". The 23 teenagers selected were outstanding and representative. Many "youth spokesmen" and "youth navigators" serve as team members and club presidents in the school, as well as students who have picked up foreign heads of state and won awards in various hosting competitions, and they themselves have strong communication power and influence among young people. The "Youth Media People" also had a deep feeling about skills and the World Skills Museum after the first military training.

Zhang Zhicheng from Lansheng Fudan Middle School wrote in a press release after observing the youth spokesman's first meeting: "The WorldSkills Museum is a worldwide youth skills education base, if it is just a building full of exhibits, at best it is just an expensive warehouse, a robust but soulless body. With the participation and support of the new generation, there is fresh blood and soul. "This coincides with the philosophy of the WorldSkills Museum.

At the scene of the recruitment interview, it is even more "eight immortals crossing the sea, each showing their miraculous powers". The reporter learned that a youth spokesperson candidate in the primary school group even brought a pair of autographs called "Tell the Story of Skills to the Best of Your Ability" to tell his understanding of the World Skills Museum through the brush.

A "Journey of Youth": Youth Power accepts Mission 001

As the highest level of the world's vocational skills competition, the vast majority of participants in the WorldSkills Competition are not more than 22 years old in the year of the competition. It can be said that this is a top skills event for young people. The World Skills Museum, which aspires to create a "skills paradise for teenagers", is also a museum mainly aimed at teenagers. According to reports, the World Skills Museum has fully mobilized the enthusiasm of young people since its establishment, let young people play the narrative protagonist of museum construction, let teenagers grow together with the museum, and spread the influence of the museum to the whole country and even around the world, which is the starting point of the youth force recruitment activities and the future publicity layout of the museum.

● 23 teenagers inject "youth power" into the WorldSkills Museum

On October 24th, the 2021 WorldSkills Museum Youth Power Certificate Awarding and Training Event was held in the Executive Board of the 46th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai. At the scene of the event, the head of the work department of the WorldSkills Museum issued an "employment certificate", and the staff released the first publicity task of youth navigators, youth spokespersons and youth media people. It is understood that after professional training, 23 "youth forces" will take this as a starting point to continue the story of the World Skills Museum from the perspective of teenagers in the follow-up skills sheng fun campus tour and other publicity activities.

●Establish a pool of alliance schools and volunteer talents to "lay the foundation" for the opening of the museum in 2022

Some of the teenagers who participated in the candidates, even if they did not finally form a group, showed considerable strength in the fierce competition, which made it difficult for the judges to give up. Therefore, the World Skills Museum considers selecting some outstanding and representative students from them and including them in the volunteer talent pool of the World Skills Museum, who will become an important reserve of volunteers, docents and other talents in the future World Skills Museum. The Museum Work Department said that it will further establish close cooperation with the schools next, selecting 8 outstanding schools and becoming the first batch of alliance schools of the WorldSkills Museum. The construction of the talent pool and the alliance school have laid a solid foundation for the promotion of the museum and the official opening of the museum in 2022.
