Chai Hu, will you use it?

author:Andrologist Zhang Zhenyu

Cold and hot, chest pain is not a disease, it should be a physical state, this physical state, Professor Huang Huang called it "Chai Hu physique".

Patients are medium or thin, pale yellowish, bluish yellow, or bluish white, lack luster, muscles are relatively firm, and the tongue is normal or dry.

The main complaints are mostly self-conscious symptoms, sensitive to changes in temperature, large mood swings, appetite is susceptible to emotions, and cold limbs. Women's menstrual cycle is not accurate, premenstrual chest tightness, breast swelling, lumps and so on.

Chai Hu is a commonly used clinical drug, but the tradition is rarely used in single flavor, and the most compatible with it is licorice.

There are many addition and subtraction provisions under the small chai hu soup strip in the "Treatise on Typhoid Fever", and the drugs that cannot be subtracted, except for the chai hu, are licorice. It can be said that the core of small chai hu soup is chai hu and licorice.

Chai Hu Licorice has a synergistic effect, the Song Dynasty "Pu Ji Ben Fang" with Chai Hu Licorice used together, after the treatment of typhoid fever, the body lean muscle fever, the name Chai Hu San.

A large amount (more than 15 grams) of chai hu is used to treat cold and heat, and a small amount (less than 10 grams) is used for chest pain.

In the small chai hu soup, the chai hu is used for half a catty, if it is calculated at one or two equivalent to 3 grams, it is 24 grams; Many modern reports are used for antipyretics, and chai hu is often used 30 to 45 grams.

For example, Mr. Yan Bing of Huai'an used 30-40 grams of chai hu, 10 grams of skullcap, 30 grams of artemisia annua, and 30 to 60 grams of raw plaster to treat colds, upper respiratory tract infections, acute bronchitis, pneumonia, acute tonsillitis, and urinary tract infections caused by high fevers above 39 ° C, and no adverse reactions were found.

Professor Yin Huihe of Beijing China-Japan Friendship Hospital used 30 grams of chai hu and 10 grams of schisandra to treat infectious diseases such as urinary tract infections and biliary tract infections.

Professor Huang Huang, a famous Chinese medicine doctor in Jiangsu Province, has experience in the treatment of viral cold fever and rheumatoid arthritis, and chai hu is effective at more than 20 grams.

The experience of Mr. Zhu Liangchun of Nantong can also be used for reference:

He believes that the application of a large number of chai hu, one is that in the process of external fever (cold, malaria, pneumonia, typhoid fever, etc.), it is not the sweat of the manifestation, nor can it be cleared down, and the cold and heat are seen, or the fever continues to recede, the chest is full of pain, the stool is not passed, and the heat and laxative are used;

Second, the liver qi that is common in miscellaneous diseases is depressed, the ribs are full, the stool is not happy, or those who have the intention of defecation and cannot be discharged, use it to help them drain.

Although there is a difference between external sensation and internal injury, there must be white moss on the tongue, and most of them are more dirty.

The dosage form used by Chai Hu is preferably a decoction.

The famous song dynasty doctor Zhu Qiu once treated the disease of Taishou Sheng Cizhong at that time, and was diagnosed with Xiao Chai Hu Tang Certificate, but the servant gave Xiao Chai Hu San, not only did not heal, but had a full chest, and then Zhu Qiu personally cooked and took two doses, which was Xi Sui'an.

It has been reported that an overdose of chai hu can lead to increased blood pressure, nausea and vomiting, edema, oliguria, or anuria. I have been using chai hu and its similar formulas for many years, and I have not found obvious toxic side reactions, and occasionally some patients have mild diarrhea after taking chai hu.

In this regard, Mr. Zhang Cigong once recalled: "Mr. Zongren Taiyan also tasted the edict and this. Mr. Township people have a sick menstrual autism, an old doctor passed on one side, ordered a single frying chai Hu half a pound, fractional times to take, the patient to take one serving two, the menstruation is still not ok, so and the rest of the people took it, diarrhea a few times, fortunately ginseng soup was spared.

I heard mr. I said that I wanted to try various experiments, when the Red Cross came to a patient, suffering from kidney cyst edema, daily medication to catch water, such as unicopene, etc., gradually decreased. I stopped taking the medicine and ordered me to take Chai Hu Er Er, and every two days to take it also diarrhea, but not as much as the diarrhea of nitrate yellow. ”

Therefore, when using chai hu in large quantities, we should pay attention to this problem. As for the rumors in the Chinese medicine community about "Chai Hu exhausted liver yin", this is not in line with clinical practice, do not be gullible.
