On September 17, the 14th batch of Medical Team from China (Jilin) aided Kuwait departed from Changchun for the recipient country to carry out a one-year foreign aid medical mission.
In 1976, China sent the first batch of foreign aid medical teams to Kuwait. Since 1993, Jilin Province has undertaken the task of dispatching medical teams to Kuwait, and has dispatched a total of 211 people in more than 20 years. This work has made a positive contribution to deepening cooperation and enhancing friendship between the two countries in the field of health. The medical team in Kuwait had a total of 17 members, including 9 doctors, 7 nurses and 1 interpreter. The medical team was originally scheduled to be dispatched in January this year, but it has been postponed due to the covid-19 epidemic and the circuit breaker of the Kuwait flight.
Wang Zhenhua, the leader of the 14th batch of Medical Team from China (Jilin), said: "We will go to the Kuwait City Rehabilitation Physiotherapy Hospital in Kuwait, the capital of Kuwait, where Chinese doctors have opened physiotherapy clinics, mainly engaged in acupuncture, cupping, massage and other traditional Chinese medicine treatments. We will certainly go all out to successfully complete the task of foreign aid. Guo Tongtong, director of the International Exchange Center of the Jilin Provincial Health Commission, said that after decades of accumulation, the Chinese medical team has become quite well-known in the local area. The local hospital has built a new consultation room for the Chinese medical team, and more and more Kuwaiti patients are coming to receive TCM treatment.
It is reported that at present, there are two support foreign medical teams in Jilin Province, which are assisting Kuwait and Samoa, the former is mainly traditional Chinese medicine, and the latter is mainly Western medicine.
