More than three years have passed, more than 1,000 days and nights, as a staff member of the bidding team, Li Weiwei still remembers the scene of Chongming's bid for the Flower Expo that year.
In January 2017, Chongming Travel Investment Company invited Shanghai Landscape Design Institute, Beijing Tsinghua Tongheng Planning and Design Institute, Beijing Beilin Landscape Garden Planning and Design Institute to plan and study the 5,000-acre expansion project of Dongping National Forest Park, and listened to the planning suggestions of Germany Yicheng Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd. (ESC) and the British GL Architectural Landscape Planning and Design Company. This can be seen as the beginning of Chongming's bid to host the Flower Expo.
On April 10, the Shanghai Flower Association forwarded the notice of the application of the China Flower Association, and the Chongming District Government officially determined the intention to apply. On April 25th, shanghai municipal agricultural commission, Shanghai flower association, Chongming district government held a "special meeting on the bidding work of the Flower Expo" at the Shanghai Modern Agricultural Comprehensive Service Center, and Chongming District officially launched the 10th China Flower Expo bidding related work.
On May 18, the Chongming District Government submitted to the Shanghai Municipal Government the "Request of the People's Government of Chongming District of Shanghai municipality on the Application for the 10th China Flower Expo" (Huchongfufa [2017] No. 27), and officially submitted an application to the municipal government to bid for the 10th China Flower Expo.
On May 27, the Shanghai Flower Association submitted to the China Flower Association the "Request of the Shanghai Flower Association on Bidding for the 10th China Flower Expo" (Shanghai Flower Association Zi [2017] No. 05), and officially submitted an application to the China Flower Association.
Chongming and "Hua" have been associated for a long time, is a famous flower seedling town in East China, with more than 500 years of flower cultivation history, but the other three competitors In Anhui Province, Fuyang City, Henan Province, Xuchang City, Henan Province, and Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, are also determined to win, and the local flower industry started early and large-scale, so in the early stage of the bid, Chongming was not regarded as a popular candidate. In the nearly a year since then, Chongming has embarked on a path of bidding that is both arduous and extraordinary, but also fruitful.
Fast forward to the morning of April 9, 2018, the China Flower Association organized and held the 10th China Flower Expo City Evaluation Conference. In addition to the members of the adjudication committee from more than 40 units across the country, there were also delegations from Chongming, Fuyang and Xuchang, three candidate cities. According to the lottery rules, Chongming made a second presentation.
After playing the propaganda film "Blossoming Flowers and Chinese Dreams", Li Zheng, secretary of the district party committee (then deputy secretary of the district party committee and mayor of the district), made a wonderful statement. He said: Shanghai is the birthplace of the Communist Party of China, an "important flower market town," and a "convention and exhibition capital," and Chongming is an island of cities, ecology, and flowers, with unique advantages and conditions. The bidding theme of Chongming District of Shanghai is "Blossoming , Chinese Dream", and the vision is to hold an ecological, innovative, humanistic and shared flower expo, so that the prosperous flowers will blossom, shine on China, and wish the centennial party celebration and the fragrance of the world. The flower expo park is located in Dongping National Forest Park, Chongming District, with an area of 10 square kilometers, and the core area is thousands of acres of flower fields to build a beautiful scenery of "peony blooming" and create the image of "national color and heavenly fragrance, welcoming the prosperous world". In the peony flower center, the hundred-pillar flower gallery and the centennial flower bed are arranged, together with the sickle Huaxi River theme exhibition hall, to create the concept of "the party emblem is shining and brilliant", in the whole flower expo garden, with flower fields, flower streams, to build Meilan bamboo chrysanthemums and other famous flowers, to create a "hundred flowers competing for beauty, fragrant garden" artistic conception. It will create a century-old dream, continue to forge ahead, open cooperation, go to the world, flower life, share by the whole people, pioneering and innovative, and enlighten the future of the flower expo.
After the statements were made in all three cities, the teller counted the votes under the supervision of the notary and the scrutineer. Due to limited seating in the venue, most of the staff of the delegations from the three cities had to wait outside. Someone could not contain his anxiety, put his ear to the door, and carefully "eavesdropped" on every move in the room.
At this moment, Li Weiwei and another colleague had already prepared the information draft on their computers and mobile phones, and were ready to pass the message to all Chongming people as soon as the results were announced. "At that time, the expert group was very positive about our work, and although the final results had not yet been announced, they were still very confident." Li Weiwei said. At 11:48, Jiang Zehui, president of the China Flower Association, announced the final evaluation results: Chongming District of Shanghai won the right to hold the 10th China Flower Expo. The members of the Chongming delegation in the stadium all stood up and hugged each other, and the staff outside the venue also cheered. Li Weiwei sent out a circle of friends with a successful bid at the first time.
After a long and short period of 1138 days, a grand event to profoundly interpret the achievements of ecological civilization construction and brilliantly paint the dream of a flower power is coming.
