author:China Jiangsu Net

Yesterday, Nantong Customs announced that after the quarantine of the department's pest quarantine laboratory and the expert review of the Nanjing Customs Plant Inspection Laboratory, it was confirmed that Japanese hip-striped mealybugs were detected on the persimmons carried by inbound passengers. This is the first time that the pest has been intercepted at the Nantong port.

The Japanese gluteal mealybug belongs to the genus Of the hemiptera PinkyHopper family, also known as wisteria gluteal mealybug, which is one of the important pests in the genus Of The Kosmopod. It can harm more than 20 kinds of plants such as Japanese wisteria, citrus, persimmon trees, pear trees, grapes, etc., and once introduced, it will pose a great threat to China's agriculture and forestry industry.

At present, the corresponding fruits intercepted by Nantong Customs have been destroyed. Nantong Customs reminds us not to carry or mail overseas animals and plants and their products into the country at will, so as not to cause invasion by alien organisms and endanger China's ecological environment.
