On August 29, a reporter from the Yangtze River Daily learned from the Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning that the 2021 Map of Wuhan City was released. The new version of the map is a "map package": there are not only maps of Wuhan City and the central urban area of Wuhan City, but also maps of 13 administrative districts such as Jiang'an District, Qiaokou District, Dongxihu District and Huangpi District, a total of 15 maps. This is also the first time that Wuhan has released a two-level standard map of the urban area.

According to the relevant person in charge of the Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning, the updated "Map of Wuhan City in 2021" is compiled based on the high-resolution remote sensing image data of Wuhan City from June to October 2020. The map size is A3 (420mm×297mm) and the data format is JPG. The content of the map covers natural geographical and socio-economic elements such as administrative divisions, water systems, vegetation, transportation, place names, and public facilities.
"Standard maps can be widely used in books and newspaper illustrations, advertising display background maps, handicraft design basemaps, etc., and can also be used as reference maps for the preparation of thematic maps." According to the person in charge, the new version of the map was released during the "National Surveying and Mapping Law Publicity Day and National Territory Awareness Publicity Week", which can not only further enhance the public's awareness of the national territory, advocate the standardized use of maps in the whole society, but also curb the emergence of "problem maps" from the source.
