Pierre Emerick Aubameyang scored for Arsenal in three consecutive home league games since September 2019 (five in a row)

Alexander Lacazette snatched a point from the defeat in a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace in the return of Patrick Vieira to the Emirates Stadium.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang's rebounds gave Arsenal an 8-minute lead, but goals from Christian Benteke (50) and Oderson Edward (73) allowed former Gunners captain Vieira to come back in just seconds from the club he had won three times as a player, winning the Premier League in over 9 years.

Arsenal looked unthinkable after Kieran Tierney swung the crossbar late, but just as the palace seemed to have absorbed everything Arsenal could throw at them, substitute Lacazette bounced the rebound home in the 5th minute of stoppage time to save a point.

The draw extended Arsenal's unbeaten league record to five and prevented the palace from overtaking the Gunners in the Premier League.

Lacazette was late on Vieira's return

Vieira was greeted warmly when the team came on, but the warm welcome lasted a full eight minutes as Arsenal made a perfect early start.

The Gunners opened the scoring through captain Pierre-Emerick Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who received the ball from a small angle after goalkeeper Vicente Guaita brilliantly blocked Nicholas Pepe's shot into the far corner.

The palace reacted well to falling behind, preventing Arsenal from playing before half-time and struggling to equalise, with both Benteke and impressive Connor Gallagher pulling Aaron Ramsdale into the save just before half-time.

James MacArthur was lucky that he recklessly scraped Bukayo Saka's calf before half-time and saw only yellow, while the Arsenal youngster was at halftime.

Within minutes of restarting, Thomas Patty blew the whistle over the angle of the goalpost and crossbar, and Vieira's team grew into an attacking force and quickly restored the draw.

Patty was blocked in midfield by Jordan Ayew and the ball passed to Benteke, who bypassed Gabriel Magarheis before scoring at his fourth Emirates stadium to an accurate equaliser.

Only Jamie Vardy (5) have scored more Premier League goals as an away player at Arsenal Emirates Stadium than Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke (4)

Vieira didn't hesitate to throw her fists into the air in celebration and watched as the palace pushed a one-second quick shot, but Ayew's thunderous shot from the edge of the box drew Tomsdale's wonderful fingertips.

Mikel Arteta introduced Lacazette in the 67th minute, and the Frenchman injected some much-needed urgency into Arsenal's attack, teaming up with Aubameyang for Guaita's brilliant save.

Crystal Palace's Oderson Edward celebrated with his teammates after Arsenal's goal

But arsenal's momentum was halted when Crystal Palace snatched possession of Samby Lokunga and drove into opposition territory, where Edward made an astonishing effort.

The palace chose to sit back and absorb the pressure of Arsenal, a strategy that nearly triumphed, with the gunmen only able to smash the bottom of the beam through Tierney. But with the final kick of the game, after the palace failed to clear their line and he snatched a dramatic late post-point, Lacazette's ball landed on Lacazette.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta: "We started very well, very dominant, very fluid. We deserved a goal and scored a goal and were in complete control of the game. After that, we lacked the calmness, conviction and maturity to manage the game. ”

"We didn't like that period. We changed something at halftime, we got better and got in control again, but then we lost the ball, which was not possible in the league.

'After that, it was a difficult mountain to climb, but thanks to the team, they never gave up, the substitutes were outstanding, we created three big chances and scored at the end the goal that I think we deserved.

Crystal Palace head coach Patrick Vieira: "Very close, but we said it a little too often. We have to learn from the games we've played before. I was really disappointed because of the way the team came back in the second half and they deserved the game.

"I'm frustrated for them; they're brave, show personality, admit goals like that, and I'm disappointed in my players. We acknowledged those goals on set-pieces in the second phase and we need to work on them. We have to pull us up our sleeves and put our bodies on the line.

'We were really unlucky to get back on the pitch today and improve ourselves again.
