Zhao Erkang was born on May 26, 1941 in Haicheng, Liaoning Province, to a family of railway workers. In the early 1950s, after watching movies such as "Dong Cunrui", "Paul Kochakin", and "Young Guards", he longed to be a film actor and create a hero.
