On July 1, the General Military Court of the South Korean Army Combat Command held a final trial of a case in which Former Member of the Performing Arts Group BIGBANG ( real name Lee Seung-hyun ) was suspected of organizing pornography and gambling abroad. The military procuratorate requested the court to sentence Shengli to five years in prison and impose a fine of 20 million won (about 114,000 yuan).
According to Yonhap News Agency reported on July 1, prosecutors believe that the defendant Shengli has always passed the responsibility on others, and it is necessary to severely punish his wrong sexual awareness and attitude.
Shengli is reportedly suspected of engaging in several pornographic solicitations (i.e., arranging illegal sex transactions for clients) against overseas investors in Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan between December 2015 and January 2016, and he himself is also suspected of participating in illegal sex trafficking. According to the Lianhe Zaobao reported on July 1, South Korean singer Jung Joon-young shared illegally filmed sex videos in chat groups and participated in arranging overseas sex transactions, and Shengli was also a member of the group. Prosecutors pointed out that there were references to Victory providing "alternative entertainment" to its Japanese customers in the chat room.
Victory also once uttered a sentence in a chat group that means "a girl who is willing to have a one-night stand." Victory said the text he intended to type was "very good fun kids," but the Apple phone's auto-word selection feature led to incorrect typing.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Shengli is also suspected of embezzling more than 528 million won of nightclub "Burning Sun" funds in the name of the "Monkey Museum" brand royalties of the bar, and embezzling 22 million won of "Yuri Holdings" funds in the name of personal lawyer fees.
In addition, Shengli is also suspected of gambling several times in places such as Las Vegas casinos in the United States from December 2013 to August 2017, suspected of gambling habitually, with gambling capital of 2.2 billion won. He also raised gambling funds by exchanging dollars for Korean won, and failed to declare them in advance, suspected of violating the Foreign Exchange Trading Act.
Shengli Legal Team said that the defendant did not have the motivation to introduce illegal sex transactions, nor did he participate in the illegal sex trading introduction activities of Liu Renxi, a former representative of "Yuri Holdings", and denied other suspicions such as gambling, but confessed to his crime of violating the Foreign Exchange Trading Law.
According to earlier reports, Victory was investigated by the police for 17 consecutive times after being identified as the central figure in a series of illegal cases in the "Burning Sun" nightclub in 2019, and was prosecuted without detention in early 2020. With Victory enlisting in the army in March last year, the case was transferred to the South Korean Military Prosecutor's Office and a military tribunal.
The 2019 victory "nightclub door" scandal and the 2020 "Room N" incident have caused a "earthquake" in south Korea. The BBC noted that sex crimes against women in South Korea are a long-standing problem. Victory has announced his retirement from show business due to the "nightclub door" scandal. Singer Jung Joon-young, who was in the same chat group as Victory, and another singer, Choi Jong-hoon, were sentenced to 6 and 5 years in prison respectively for allegedly gang-raping a drunken woman.
