"Dream Giant"
It's a golden dream,
I heard his lonely heart,
Just like you.
- "Dream Giant"
Dreams are like life, life is like dreams.
The early spring sun shines through the living room, and the house is warm and melting.
The pandemic has made the world exceptionally quiet. There are few vehicles on the road, and occasionally people pass by in the garden of the community, wearing masks and hurrying. The breeze blows through the curtains, the branches on the balcony sway with the wind, and the white petals sway gently with the spring breeze.
This special February time has given me more opportunities to spend with my children, like a gift. We huddled together on the couch watching the 2016 children's movie "Dream Giant".

The film tells the story of a little girl in an orphanage, Sophie, who meets a kind-eyed giant who likes to collect beautiful dreams, and joins forces with the good-eyed giant to protect the human world in order to prevent other giants from eating children.
The story is based on a novella fairy tale written by British children's literature writer Roald Dahl, which has won the British Children's Book Award and the German Youth Literature Award. The writer Dahl's seven-year-old daughter is called Sophie, who once told her the story of the giant, and once used a bamboo pole to "blow dreams" to her sleeping daughter like a kind-eyed giant.
Therefore, this is not only an innocent fairy tale, but also a spiritual consolation left to him by a father, telling his unfinished love for his daughter.
Watching it, my children and I both fell in love with this movie. We were touched by the camaraderie between the little girl Sophie and the good-eyed giant, and admired their courage to overcome their fears to defeat the bad giants, and more importantly, it seemed to touch something soft deep inside us.

The orphanage director believes that the devil will only appear at midnight, I think it is at three o'clock in the morning, and I am the only one who will wake up at this time. - Sophie
Sophie is a very lonely and sensitive little girl at heart. The child's curiosity was suppressed by the director of the orphanage, and she was sullen all the time, and the monotonous and tedious life often caused her insomnia. One night, Sophie, who can't sleep, walks to the midnight window and accidentally sees a tall giant, who is found by the giant and brought back to the giant country.
He was a giant with good eyes. He specializes in collecting dreams, packing a variety of different dreams in glass bottles, and picking out good dreams to blow to the cute children. He was warm and kind at heart, and unlike the other giants, the other giants ate people, and only he was a vegetarian. Therefore, he is regarded as an outlier among giants, and every day he is alone, and Sophie calls him "the good-eyed giant".
Sophie and Kind Eyes are actually a type of person.

their inner desire to change

I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid. - Sophie
During her days at the orphanage, Sophie had to face a harsh director every day, and she preferred to go with the giant rather than stay in the orphanage. So, when Good-Hearted Eye is afraid that she will be eaten and put Sophie back in the orphanage, she says "I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid" and jumps off the balcony and returns to the Giant's Kingdom with The Good-Hearted Eye again, and when she returns to the Giant's Kingdom, she will always face the fear of being eaten by the bad giant.
Even the giants, the good-hearted eyes are also bullied and insulted, there is no room for fighting back, the good-hearted eyes carefully protect Sophie, worried that Sophie will be caught and eaten by the bad giants like the children before, which he must not bear anymore. However, they are equally weak in their respective worlds, not respected and understood by the strong, and they cannot be the Lord. The love in their hearts makes them spend a lot of effort every day to collect good dreams, to blow them to the cute children, to make the children feel happy, but they are powerless to do anything about themselves, and the depression and fear are always lingering in their hearts.
But should it go on like this?
The bad giant must find Sophie, the "human bean" to eat her, and the good-hearted eye can't stand it anymore! During her escape, Sophie sees the portrait of the Queen in the little boy's room and comes up with a way to concoct a super nightmare with the Good-Eyed Giant about the bad giant eating a child, and blow this dream to the Queen of England, so that the Queen can stop the Man-Eating Giant from continuing to do bad things.
In this way, they bravely took the dream and went on the road.

find the queen and find your true self

Dreams, they took away, I want to return them, that's why I go blow dreams. - The Good-Eyed Giant
When the queen wakes up from the nightmare, she finds the little girl in the dream standing on the windowsill, and the giant cannibalism thing really exists. The Queen received Sophie and the Good-Hearted Giant, allowing the Good-Hearted Eye to find self-confidence and show her true self, while the Queen accepted Sophie's and Kind-Hearted Eye's advice and sent soldiers to throw the nine man-eating giants onto a desert island.
The world returned to peace. Kind Eye returned to his giant country and continued to live the work of growing vegetables and blowing dreams, while Sophie woke up from her room in the Queen's palace.
Had she just had a long dream? Was she an orphan in an orphanage, or a princess in the palace? Which is the real reality? Which is a dream?
At this moment, which reality is no longer important, what is important is that she has a golden dream: there are good-eyed giants, there are beautiful giants, there are countless colorful dreams that can be chased and bring happiness to children every night.
Hopes and dreams made her no longer lonely.
< h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" > concluding remarks

Like the film, our real world is full of cruelty and challenges.
Disease, plague, war, disaster. At the beginning of 2020, the fires in Australia, the new coronavirus and the locusts in Africa have plunged people into a deep helplessness, we once thought that human beings are the masters of this earth, omnipotent, and this sudden battle for survival is not just a story in the movie, but the real one on this earth began to play out, and finally, people began to reflect.
Without this epidemic, I would rarely see this film and have no opportunity to reflect on myself.
Day after day of life, busy work and complicated chores completely occupy us, how long have we not asked our hearts:
Is this the life you want?
How much repression and fear are deliberately hidden in your heart, are you happy?
Remember your once-young dreams?
In the film, Sophie and Kind Eye blow a good dream to a boy, he dreams that his father received a call from the president, and the president came to find him, he and the president talk happily, and the father and mother are stunned! The happy boy smiled in his dreams, and even giggled. Although he didn't know it was just a dream, the happiness was real.
Like this movie, where is reality and where is dream, it has been indistinguishable.
But this happiness and satisfaction reminds us, adults who have long been accustomed to loneliness and hiding, think of dreams in our hearts. And that childhood-like innocent dream that has been sealed by us for a long time, at a certain moment of watching this movie, was suddenly awakened.
Wild pear, after 80, with love and warmth, accompany you forward.
