On December 13, 1937, Nanking fell, and the extremely perverted Japanese began a massacre in Nanjing that lasted more than six weeks. The vast number of women have suffered physical and mental injuries in this catastrophe, and any Japanese soldier can humiliate Chinese women without punishment.
A large number of Chinese women were desperate at that time, hiding in the refugee rescue center established in the Jinling Women's Liberal Arts College. And the person who proposed to build this shelter was named Minnie. Wittlin is the director of this academy.
On December 14, 1937, Minnie M. Wittrine was asked to select a hundred female students from the rescue center to offer to the Japanese soldiers as prostitutes. If these demands were not acceded, these inhuman Japanese soldiers would not know what crazy things they would do.
Minnie. Wittrin tried her best to negotiate with the Japanese side to no avail. In the end, 21 women were voluntarily taken away by the Japanese side, and the matter came to an end.
The above is clearly documented in Minnie. In Wei Terin's diary, it is also the prototype of the novel "Jinling Thirteen Chao" written by Yan Geling. "Jinling Thirteen Chao" mainly tells the story of thirteen singers who stepped forward in the context of the fall of Nanjing and replaced the female students as "comfort women".
Zhang Yimou bought the copyright to the novel and made it into a movie. The film came to an abrupt end when the singers went with the Japanese army with a mortal heart. So, what happened to these brave and fearless women? What was their ending?

On the eve of the fall of Nanjing, a group of Kuomintang officers fought the Japanese soldiers in the ruins of the dilapidated buildings, saving a group of female students who were being chased by the Japanese soldiers, and the students escaped smoothly under the cover of the officers.
But they did not know that this group of officers who were fighting would soon die with the Japanese army and end their lives in a heroic and tragic way. Their bodies fell to dust with the sound of explosions.
At this time, at the head of the college wall of the female students who had just escaped, a large group of singers fled here. They believed that this college protected by foreigners must be safe, so one by one they climbed the walls of the college in an attempt to hide in this "safe haven" that was particularly precious during the war.
The female students looked out through the window glass of the college and realized that it was a woman from the other side of the Qinhuai River. The singers hold the pipa, wear dresses, and interpret what is called the style of every move.
The students show only a faint contempt, but their hearts have long been shocked by their style. The singers didn't care what these little girls thought, they cheered and rejoiced that they had found a place to stay.
They quickly occupied the cellar of the college church, cleaned up the dirty and messy cellar, and then read books, picked up cats, played mahjong, and the noise of women filled the church. Looking at them alone, how could they think that there were people lying everywhere outside, all dying people or cold corpses.

In fact, Yumo brought her companions here not simply to find a place to stay, she had a bolder idea: to use the identity of a priest to help them escape from Nanjing. Female students still look down on singers, and there is always contempt in their words. When the Japanese army found the academy, the female students unanimously covered the singers in the cellar.
The academy was filled with screams and cries for help from female students who were being chased by Japanese soldiers. Watching the female students being pulled around by the Japanese soldiers, the priest shouted angrily to stop this behavior, but in the end it was to no avail, until the Chinese instructors hiding here attracted the Japanese army and temporarily stopped this brutal behavior.
The singers are apologetic to the students for believing that they have led to the tragedy of the students because they have seized the cellar. One day, in order to play a good song "Qin Huai Jing" to the petty officer Pu Sheng, who died of illness, their sister Cardamom ran to the piano room to get the piano, but unfortunately was caught by the Japanese soldiers, suffered a terrible abuse and was brutally killed.
The singers finally understood that this war was not unrelated to them. Later, in order to celebrate the capture of Nanjing, The Japanese soldiers came to the church and invited the female students to sing songs. The singers know that this is a plot!
Yumo and the others looked at the group of young female students in front of them, thought of their sisters who died tragically because of the perverted Japanese soldiers, and thought of the students facing their maintenance on the cellar before, and resolutely stepped forward and decided to sing on behalf of the students. Since ancient times, when thinking of singers, everyone will always laugh at a few words for the first time. But now, they are the true portrayal of "businesswomen also know the hatred of the country, and this hatred does not concern the wind and the moon".
The singer does not know hatred and suffering? The singer will definitely flee in the face of the survival of the country? Yumo gave the answer with practical actions. Together, they sang a song called "Qin Huaijing", then cut off their long hair, wrapped their breasts, changed into the students' clothes, and waited for their own battlefield.

Although the final outcome of the singers is not shown in the film, in the face of the heavily guarded Japanese soldiers, the singers have no possibility of escape. After being sent to the Japanese military camp, in the face of the cruel Japanese soldiers, the fate of the singers can be imagined.
Yan Geling's novel "Jinling Thirteen Chao" introduced at the end: After the singers were sent to the Japanese military camp, some committed suicide, some were tortured to death, some died of illness, and finally only Yumo survived and stayed in Japan as comfort women.
The fact is so cruel that Yumo, who later survived, attended the trial site of the Nanjing Massacre and complained in detail about the inhumane things that the Japanese side had done to China's "female students". The 21 women who really existed in history became comfort women after being taken away, some were directly killed because they were pregnant, some were humiliated and chose to commit suicide, and some women were killed by Japanese soldiers because of resistance!
