Sha surname, Sha in Persian means "king", just as the Turkic language people call the king "Khan", the Persian king was formerly called "Shain Sha", meaning "king of kings", so the origin of the Sha surname is mostly from Persia. Most of the Sha surnames are taken from the first and last sounds of ancestral names, such as the Yuan History records: the Western Regions people and horses conspired with Sha, Zi Miersha, Cimu into Lasha, Berosha, Shaad, Sha's, etc., and their descendants took Sha as their surname. It ranks 292nd in the surname list, with a population of about 492,000, accounting for about 0.031% of the total population of the country. As early as ancient times, it is said that the Shennong clan had a Susha tribe, and his descendants took "sha" as their surname. The first emperor of the Song Dynasty of the Zhou Dynasty was named Weizi Qi, and among his descendants was those with the surname Sha. In addition, if the monarchs of the ancient princely states lost their princely states, they would be called "Gongsha", and the descendants of the monarchs of these princely states might change their surnames to Sha in order to commemorate the lost kingdoms. During the Spring and Autumn Period, the Song dynasty was enfeoffed in a place named Sha (沙, in present-day Daming County, Hebei Province), and his descendants took the place name and surnamed Sha.
There are a total of 50 Lingtang Hui surnames, of which the big surnames are Yang, Xue, Li and Sha, which account for 78.4% of the Hui population. Other Sha surnames distributed in Gaoyou are mainly distributed around Linyu Xinghua, and there is a village (Shajia Village) in Chuanqing, Shaguanzhuang and Shananzhuang in Pingsheng.
