The progress bar for 2019 is halfway through, and it's time to sum up the good movies of the first half of the year.
Based on the film's ratings and ratings on the authoritative rating website Douban, we sorted out the top 50 new films that were the most acclaimed in the first half of 2019.

Last year's Cannes Film Festival's award-winning work "How to Be Home" not only became a box office dark horse in China, but also ranked first with the super high score of Douban 9.0, followed by the Oscar best film "Green Book".
The top-ranked feature films also include "Toy Story 4" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" and other films, and "Reunion 4", which has soared at the box office, has also squeezed into the top ten.
The documentary "Four Springs", which is based on real family life, ranked fourth, and it is also the best result of domestic films in the list.
Notably, 3 of the top 10 spots on the list are covered by documentaries, including this year's Oscar-winning "Freehand Rock Climbing" and "Mayday Life Unlimited Inc."
1
"What a Home"
Director: Nadine Labaki
Starring: Zane Al Rafia / Jodanos Shifero / Boruwatiev Treje Bancor
Genre: Drama
Country/Region of Production: Lebanon/France/United States
Douban: 9.0 points
The Lebanese film "What a Home" topped the list with a super high score of 9.0. The film won the Cannes Film Jury Prize and was nominated for an Oscar for foreign language film.
Probably no one thought that under the almost crushing schedule of "Avengers 4", this art film could slowly counterattack with word of mouth and become the dark horse of the year. The film presents a cross-section of Lebanon's low-level society in a documentary manner, although there is no dazzling large-scale special effects production, but the power of emotion is enough to shock people's hearts and make people cry.
The problem faced by refugee children in the film: if the parents are "born and not raised", can the children sue their parents? It also triggered everyone's deep thinking and heated discussion.
2
"Freehand Rock Climbing"
Director: Kim Kwok-wai / Elizabeth Chai Vassarely
Starring: Alex Hornold / Kim Kwok-wai / Dierdre Wolownick
Genre: Documentary
Country of Production: United States
This year's Oscar for Best Documentary, "Freehand Climbing," chronicles the famous rock climber Alex Honnold without the help of any aid and protective equipment, only on all fours to challenge the "highest climbing peak" of the 3,000-foot-high "Chieftain Rock" in Yosemite National Park in the United States.
Alex Hornord took less than 4 hours to climb to the top of the rock with his bare hands without any protection, a feat that can be called the "Apollo moon landing" in the world of rock climbing, and it has also successfully entered the annals of human achievement. The documentary basically restores the inner state and climbing process of the climber, and the second half hour is stunned, even if it is across the screen, it can make you hold your breath and sweat in the palms of your hands.
3
Green Book
Director: Peter Farrelli
Starring: Vigo Mortensen / Mahersala Ali / Linda Cardrini
Genre: Drama / Comedy / Biography
Douban: 8.9 points
As the winner of this year's Oscar for Best Picture, "Green Book" was released in China immediately after winning the award, which contributed to the film's good reputation and box office performance.
Based on a true story, the film shows white drivers and black musicians with huge differences in ideas, wealth, class, and race, and gradually break away from prejudice and become close friends on a journey.
The film can see the shadow of many classic movies, such as "Driving for Miss Daisy" and "Untouchable". Although there is no innovative breakthrough in artistic creation, this traditional Hollywood routine will still impress you with solid scripts and realistic details.
4
"Four Springs"
Director: Lu Qingyi
Starring: Lu Yunkun / Lee Kyu-hyun / Lu Qingwei
Genre: Documentary / Family
Country of Production: Chinese mainland
5
Toy Story 4
Director: Josh Courey
Starring: Tom Hanks / Tim Allen / Annie Potts
Genre: Comedy / Animation / Fantasy
Douban: 8.8 points
What movie series has been a huge success four times in a row? Toy Story did it! I thought Play 3 was the perfect finale of the series, but nine years after the trilogy ended, Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Andy's other toys returned on another adventure.
And the great Pixar has once again turned decay into magic, opening up infinite possibilities in a perfect story. And the toy also jumps away from the principle of blind loyalty and master, and Woody and the shepherd girl have their own home. Goodbye, old friends!
6
Bohemian Rhapsody
The video information is hand-shaking and filling in incorrectly, please do not refer to it
Starring: Ma Dong-seok / Kim Moo-yeol / Kim Sung-gyu / Yoo Seung-mu / Choi Min-chol
Genre: Action / Crime
Country/Region of Production: South Korea
Release: 2019-05-15 (South Korea)
Douban: 8.7 points
The biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody", based on the legendary "Queen" in the history of rock and roll, exploded at the global box office throughout the year and became a phenomenon film. The film recreates the personal life and mental journey of lead singer Freddie Mercury, while stringing together their legendary musical careers with multiple classic songs from Queen.
The last 20 minutes of the film perfectly recreate the shocking performance of Live Aid that year, and Rami Marek also won an Oscar. When those exciting melodies reappear on the big screen, the blood in the heart will be ignited.
7
Director: Chen Yiren
Starring: Wen Shangyi / Shi Jinhang / Cai Shengyan
Genre: Drama / Documentary / Music
Country/Region of Production: Taiwan
As a continuation of the "Life Unlimited Company" concert, the film is a common memorial for Mayday and all fans, and the surrounding singing voice haunts the ears, bringing shock like the scene, and can also make memories a reality.
8
"Who Fell in Love with Him First"
Director: Xu Yuting / Xu Zhiyan
Starring: Qiu Ze / Xie Yingxuan / Chen Rushan
Genre: Drama / Comedy / Same-Sex
Douban: 8.6 points
Taiwan's gay film "Who Fell in Love with Him First" has been nominated for 8 nominations at the Golden Horse Awards, and finally won three awards: Best Actress, Best Editing, and Best Original Song.
Although the film tells the social issue of "same wife", it abandons the emotions of bitterness and hatred, tells the story in a witty and humorous way, and finally chooses to use love to tolerate the past. Among them, Qiu Ze, who has not appeared for a long time, and Xie Yingxuan, who switched from drama to film, both contributed wonderful performances. The birth of the film coincided with the passage of equal rights in same-sex marriage in Taiwan, which is of great practical significance.
9
"The Masterless Work"
Directed by: Florian Heinkel von Donas Malk
Starring: Tom Shirin / Sebastian Koch / Paula Bell
Country/Region of Production: Germany/Italy
German director Donasma won the 2007 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film for "Eavesdropping Storm". His new work, Masterless, also revolves around a young World War II artist whose artwork was used by the Nazis for political propaganda, an experience that inspired him decades later to create a series of extreme works of art.
10
Avengers: Endgame
Director: Anthony Russell / Joe Russell
Starring: Robert Downey Jr. / Chris Evans / Mark Rufflow
Genre: Action / Sci-Fi / Fantasy / Adventure
After 11 years and the super length of 21 movies, the Marvel Universe finally ushered in the final climax in "Reunion 4". Epic and entertaining, tragic and affectionate. The familiar scenes have been cleverly strung together, and the once omnipotent superheroes have completed their final curtain.
This is an unprecedented feat that the film has experienced with its fans, and whether you are a fan of this series or not, you cannot deny the great significance of the "reunion" left in this era.
Love you guys, 3,000 times!
