Since the beginning of this week, I will introduce you to the chariots that appear in an Ultraman work every week, and the main reason for this theme is that the new Ultraman series "Rob Ultraman" has begun to be screened. Although I am completely unable to get excited about the current close-up films that sell toys, as an Olympic fan, I will still be very honest about watching them. Today we will start with the first work of the Ultraman series, "The First Ultraman", because this film was filmed in the 1960s, so the image data is relatively vague, please understand.

Born in 1966, the work set the tone for all of today's Ultraman series, and was personally directed by renowned feature film director Eiji Marutani. What, you don't know him? Godzilla should have seen it, Godzilla was Eiji Marutani's most successful work before shooting Ultraman. And he later believed that our time needed a hero, so the classic silver giant was born.
There are many classic monsters and cosmic people in the original Ultraman, such as the Bartan Starman, King Red, Pigoumon, Zarab Starman, Gomorrah, mephiras and Jetton, etc., and it also creates a pattern where the team and Ultraman work together to fight monsters. Of course, our topic today is the car, so I'm going to talk to you about the chariot in The First Ultraman.
Just two years after Japan hosted the Tokyo Olympics in 1966, Honda had just begun to switch from motorcycles to cars, and although the team was very active in the first Ultraman, it was not so concerned about the tanks. The science search team in the play is driving an imported Chevrolet Corvair that has hardly been modified, and the only difference between it and the original car is that the logo of the Cote team is attached to the body and roof, and this car is the car of director Eiji Marutani himself. And unlike the later team car, there is no trace of combat on it, just a car for commuting, but in the play it has a lot of shots, you can look for it carefully.
The model, introduced by Chevrolet in 1960, won the Automotive Award of the Year as soon as it was launched, and you don't see that it has a long front like most cars, but it is a full-fledged rear-drive car. It was also the only rear-drive production model in the United States at the time, and its competitor was the Beetle with the same layout as it. But because of this mechanical structure, it is easy to get out of control in some cases, and I don't know if the Cote team encountered such problems when shooting. In addition, its wheelbase is longer than the current Civic, but in the United States it is only a compact car, but in Japan it has become a large luxury car.
But in fact, the first car to appear in "The Original Ultraman" is not a Mitsubishi Jeep authorized by Willys, which appears in the first episode of Ultraman escorting Bermura and then comes to the scene to investigate after colliding with the plane piloted by Hayata.
In addition to these, there are many scenes about cars in "The First Ultraman", such as "Horrible Route 87", "Land Destruction Work" and "Monster Highness", etc. Interested friends can go to see, you will find a lot of Japanese street models of that era.
Compared to those cars that were only used for commuting, they were the most commonly used means of transportation for the Cote Team, such as the aircraft Witto and the Small Witto, the underground chariot Beirut, and its large drill head became the prototype for many underground chariots in the future. In addition to this, there is a special submarine for underwater combat, which gave us a wonderful performance in the first episode, and it is also the place where Ultraman first transformed.
"The First Ultraman" is not perfect, it has a lot of bizarre plots and places to wear gangs, but these can not prevent it from becoming a classic special drama, in the next issue I will introduce you to the chariot in Severn Ultraman, stay tuned.
