01. The Ring Flyover – a competition for the British Railway Pedestrian Bridge
XING DESIGN is a traveling architectural design studio

The RIBA Rail Footbridge Competition is known as "Finding a New Barrier-Free Pedestrian Bridge Design Idea for British Rail".
Ring RING
The railway is like a finger of the city linking other cities, and the design team made the flyover into an art installation – the image of the ring became the symbol of british railways, where people met, reunited and kissed goodbye.
The Ring Overpass provides walking steps on both sides and ramps for bicycles and luggage to carry more traffic. On the inside of the ring, a mechanical rail disabled elevator system is also integrated, like a gemstone set in a ring.
02. Babylon Landscape Bridge, Seine River, Paris, France
Works by Rescubika
The landscape bridge, designed by Recubika, will create a strong and decisive link between the vidal naquet waterfront square and the bercy village.
The project aims to seek to form a powerful city entrance possibility with aerial landscapes, providing a pleasant view to pedestrians and drivers on the road.
Strolling on the bridge will allow people to relax and unwind, with its huge central waterfall constantly pouring into the Seine. Vegetable gardens will also be built along the way and opened to locals.
03. Lower Rainier Vista and Pedestrian Land Bridge (2019 ASLA Universal Design Category Honorable Mention)
Seattle, USA / GGN
The Lower Rainier Vista project on the University of Washington campus in Seattle created a new visual frame designed to reduce the height of the road and build a land bridge above it that elevates it over a multimodal transportation hub.
Through the transformation and rearrangement of the expansive lawn, the project restored the visual connection between the campus and Mount Rainier, thus fulfilling the vision proposed by the Olmsted brothers in 1909.
04. Køge North Station Flyover, Copenhagen
COBE and DISSING+WEITLING architecture
Dan Stubbergaard, architect and partner at COBE, said: "The chic futuristic façade is well suited to the area that is currently undergoing dramatic changes, and the skybridge will help to promote the development and prosperity of the Køge region in the coming years."
The bridge has also become one of the district's most popular architectural attractions, like a long, stout steel snake snaking above the railway trunk line, presenting a comprehensive and spectacular cultural landscape for users.
In addition, Køge North Station is an important pillar and catalyst in the future planning of the city of Køge and its surrounding areas, which has a high priority for attracting qualified workers and creating optimal, green and sustainable mobility.
05. Infinity Ring Bridge, Denmark
by Gjøde & Povlsgaard Arkitekter
This is a circular bridge located by the sea, allowing people to enjoy unlimited sea views and scenery. Created by Danish studio Gjøde & Povlsgaard Arkitekter for the 2015 Biennale, it aims to bring out the beautiful waterfront scenery of Aarhus.
Studio founder Johan Gjøde mentioned that the circular sculptural bridge is a passage connecting the city and the sea, which is located between the two, allowing people to experience endless panoramic views in changing scenes and feel the panoramic social interaction space.
The entire bridge reaches a diameter of 60 meters, half above the shallow sea surface and half above the sandy beach. The classic circular design, the pillars of the bridge body are two meters deep into the shallow sea, and the endless sea is also connected to the past.
06. Bergen, Netherlands, Moat Passage Bridge
RO&AD architects
The project is a water defense line consisting of a series of fortresses and urban submerged areas in the southwest of the Netherlands, and when the waterline is restored, a bridge across the moat passage of one of the fortresses, the Fort de Roovere, needs to be built.
The "invisible bridge" structure is made entirely of wood and supplemented with EPDM rubber foil for waterproofing. The bridge is like a moat in a fortress and moat, and the shape blends in with the outline of the surrounding landscape.
07. Bridge on the banks of the Dřetovice River, Czech Republic
Ondřej Císler + Petr Tej
The small bridge is located above the Dřetovice River in the village of Vrapice near the city of Clapno, and the natural environment in which the bridge is located somehow compensates for the urbanized public space of the village.
The geological landscape around the village is also very rich and interesting, and fossil shark teeth have been found here. The meadows around the bridge are often flooded, and when no human intervention is in place, it is a wilderness.
08. China Knot Pedestrian Bridge, Changsha
NEXT architects
The "China Knot" pedestrian bridge was designed by Next Architects in Amsterdam, with a total length of 183.95 meters located in Meixi Lake, Changsha, and was once selected by CNN as one of the "Top Ten Most Amazing Bridges in the World".
The bridge is a key project for the public spaces of the district and is designed with leisure, ecological and tourism activities in mind. And it connects multiple levels of different heights (river banks, roads, higher-lying parks, and their interconnections).
The designer said that "the shape of the bridge is inspired by the Mobius ring and the Art of the Chinese knot, which in the ancient Chinese decorative folk art symbolizes good luck and prosperity", and the charm of the bridge lies in the combination of tradition and modernity.
09. Huangchuan Three Gorges Qingtian Glass Bridge, Qingyuan, Guangdong
Architectural Design and Research Institute of Zhejiang University
Guinness Book of Records certification: "The world's longest glass paved suspension bridge"
The Huangchuan Three Gorges Qingtian Glass Bridge built by the Architectural Design and Research Institute (UAD) of Zhejiang University in Lianzhou, northern Guangdong, is like a landmark building growing in the natural environment, with a hidden form and innovative methods of construction, to achieve a seamless connection between nature and artificiality.
This glass suspension bridge spans the steep cliffs of the Three Gorges of Huangchuan and overlooks the largest waterfalls in northern Guangdong, like a dragon standing tall in the sky, blending in with its environment.
The whole bridge is paved with 3 layers of ultra-white laminated tempered glass with a thickness of 4.5 cm, and its light transmittance is 99.15%.
With a net width of 8.8 m and a bridge deck elevation of 201.0 m, the ladder was crowned the Guinness World Record for "The Longest Glass Paved Suspension Bridge" for its full glass length of 526.14 m. It has become a new landmark building in the local area, injecting new impetus into the development of tourism there.
10. The largest concrete 3D printed pedestrian bridge, Shanghai
School of Architecture, Tsinghua University – Central South Land Digital Architecture Research Center
On January 12, 2019, the world's largest concrete 3D printed pedestrian bridge was completed in Shanghai's Baoshan Wisdom Bay. The project was designed and developed by the team of Professor Xu Weiguo of Tsinghua University (School of Architecture)-Zhongnan Land Digital Architecture Research Center, and jointly built with Shanghai Wisdom Bay Investment Management Company.
The pedestrian bridge has a total length of 26.3 meters and a width of 3.6 meters, and the bridge structure borrows the structural method of the ancient Chinese Zhaozhou Bridge, using a single arch structure to bear the load, and the arch foot spacing is 14.4 meters.
Before the bridge entered the actual printing construction, a 1:4 shrink-foot solid bridge damage test was carried out, and its strength could meet the load requirements of the pedestrians standing full of people.
