China's turpentine production continues to decline Fat turpentine is the main product type

#Turpentine #Turpentine is an essential oil made from pine resin and is an important industrial raw material. Turpentine appears as a colorless or yellowish transparent liquid with an aromatic odor, volatile and combustible. Turpentine is insoluble in water and miscible with organic solvents such as ethanol, acetic acid, ether, benzene, chloroform, and carbon tetrachloride. Turpentine downstream can be widely used, is currently the world's largest production of essential oil products.

Turpentine can be used as an analgesics to reduce muscle, joint, and nerve pain; can be used as a solvent for pigments, paints, pesticides, glass, paper and other industries; can be used as a chemical raw material for the production of camphor, terpineol, dihydrolauene, terpene resin, ice flakes and other products. According to the "2021-2025 Turpentine Industry Investment Environment and Investment Prospect Forecast Analysis Report" released by the New Thought Industry Research Center, in the downstream market of turpentine, synthetic camphor is the largest demand area, accounting for 34%; followed by terpine alcohol, with demand accounting for 24%; dihydrolaucine field Demand ranks third, accounting for 15%.
The turpentine produced in China is fat turpentine, which is made by distillation and extraction of pine resin from pine trees such as masson pine and Yunnan pine. In the process of processing, pine resin will produce two products, rosin and turpentine, of which rosin is the main product, turpentine is a companion product, so China's turpentine production is directly affected by rosin production. Since 2012, China's rosin production has been declining, and turpentine production has declined. In addition to China, around the world, India, Indonesia, Brazil and other countries also produce salponyl.
China's pine tree species are diverse, pine tree resources are abundant, the pine resin required for the production of turpentine is mainly derived from masson pine, Yunnan pine, South Asian pine, wetland pine, Caribbean pine and other tree species, these pine trees are mainly distributed in China's Yunnan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong and other provinces. China's pine resin production has been smaller than the demand, and the import demand is increasing. Since 2018, China's pine resin production has shown a downward trend, and the price of pine resin has continued to increase. These factors have led to a decline in the production of rosin in China, and the production of turpentine has declined simultaneously.
In addition to grease turpentine, sulfate turpentine is also an important industrial turpentine product, but it needs deodorization and desulfurization process in the production process, and there is a technical bottleneck in this field in China, so China's sulfate turpentine production is small, and the product quality is poor. Globally, sulfate turpentine is mainly produced in North America and Western Europe. Compared with sulfate turpentine, fat turpentine has higher quality, and as a raw material, it can be synthesized into more high-end products, which can be used in the production of medicine, high-end flavors and fragrances, so the market competitiveness is stronger.
Analysts in the new thinking industry said that China is the world's largest producer of fat turpentine, but domestic production continues to decline, making China's turpentine imports continue to grow, while exports are gradually shrinking. In this context, Southeast Asian and South American countries began to seize the international turpentine market. In the future competition, China's turpentine industry in the supply of raw materials, product prices and other aspects do not have a competitive advantage, only by continuously improving the production process, the production of high-quality turpentine products, in order to maintain a dominant position in the international market competition.
