Recently, the reporter learned from the Municipal Agriculture and Rural Bureau that the city's citrus planting area this year is 449,000 mu, with an expected output of 488,000 tons and an output value of 2.21 billion yuan.
According to the statistics of the special products department, the new species of citrus this year are 7332.5 mu, accounting for 55.0% of the new development area of fruits, a decrease of 32.3% over last year, and the development rate is obvious. The newly developed citrus is mainly mixed citrus and early ripening Wenzhou mandarin.
"The continuous strong cold wave at the beginning of the year has caused the city's flatland orange orchards and grapefruit, red beauty and other miscellaneous citrus and Wendan, which have relatively poor frost resistance, to be seriously frozen; mountain orange orchards have a large amount of citrus flowers this year, a high fruit set rate, abundant rainfall during the expansion of fruits, a low fruit splitting rate, and an increase in the yield of mountain citrus mu." Xu Chunyan, deputy director of the Agricultural Technology Extension Center of the Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said that the total output of citrus in the city is expected to decrease by 10.1% year-on-year this year. The production of high-quality citrus such as early maturing, extra-early ripening Wenzhou mandarin, local early, grapefruit, orange, and miscellaneous citrus accounted for 69.5% of the total output, an increase of 9.1 percentage points over last year, and the proportion of medium and late ripening Wenzhou mandarins, limes, and quercus oranges with poor quality was further reduced.
"Judging from the relevant comprehensive information, the overall citrus sales situation this year is optimistic, and it is expected that the overall price will rise slightly, and the law of high quality and good price is obvious." Xu Chunyan believes that early-ripening high-quality fruits and fine fruits will continue to maintain a best-selling situation, and the price is expected to rise to a certain extent; the competition in the mid-range fruit market is still fierce, affected by the reduction of frost damage, and the price is expected to rise slightly; some varieties with poor quality may still have slow sales or even staged and regional slow sales.
Xu Chunyan suggested that in the later stage, we should pay close attention to the possible continuous rain, low temperature frost damage and other bad weather conditions, strengthen technical guidance, and do a good job in quality and safety source control. In the implementation of projects such as the construction of high-quality orchards and the substitution technology of organic fertilizers and the application of technologies such as raw grass mulching and (Wendan) bagging, it is necessary to continuously improve the level of standardized production technology and improve the comprehensive quality of fruits.
