Affected by this blow, Lü Gong's illness worsened, and the Kangxi Emperor allowed him to continue to return to his hometown to recuperate (the illness was exhausted, and he was still alive).
In the third year of the Kangxi Dynasty, Lü Gong died of illness in his hometown.
