Located in the southern part of the national historical and cultural city of Shangqiu, the ancient city of Shangqiu, also known as guidefu ancient city, was built in the early Ming Dynasty and later flooded by the Yellow River. In the sixth year of Ming Zhengde, the city was built again in the north of the original ancient city, which is the ancient city of Shangqiu that we see now. Under the current shangqiu ancient city is also buried five cities and pools, including the capital of the Song Dynasty in the Spring and Autumn Period, forming the layout of the city stack.

Shangqiu Ancient City Scenic Area
During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the ancient city of Shangqiu not only had ancient city walls, moats, temple altars and temples, but also a large number of arches. According to local records such as the "Guide Fu Zhi" and the "Shangqiu County Chronicle" of the Ming and Qing dynasties, in the ancient city of Shangqiu, "the wind and sound of the trees in the table house came from shangyi, the ming dynasty scholars who ascended to the throne, and the gentlemen who were prominent were all wedges...", and there were dozens of archways built in the ancient city of Shangqiu at the most. However, for various reasons, by the Republic of China period, the archway in the ancient city of Shangqiu "did not exist". At present, due to the needs of tourism development in the Shangqiu Ancient City Scenic Area, several archways have been built successively, but they can no longer reflect the historical value and cultural value of ancient buildings.
