1. The son wants to raise and does not wait

Confucius was on his way to the State of Qi when he suddenly heard someone crying, and his voice seemed very sad.

Confucius said to the driver: "Although this cry sounds very sad, it is not the sad sound of someone in the family who has passed away!" ”

So, after driving the carriage to the front, after a short journey, I saw an unusual man, with a sickle on his body and a white belt, where he lost his voice and cried bitterly, but it was not a cry of mourning.

Confucius then got out of the car and stepped forward and asked, "Sir, who are you?" ”

The man replied, "My name is Qiu Wuzi." ”

Confucius asked, "Why are you crying so sadly when you are not mourning?" ”

Qiu Wuzi choked up and said, "I have three mistakes in this life, but unfortunately I didn't realize them until I was old, but I can't regret it." ”

Confucius then asked, "Can you let me hear about your three transgressions?" I hope you can tell me that there is no secret. ”

Qiu Wuzi said sadly: "When I was young, I liked to study, but when I went around looking for teachers and friends, after traveling around the world and returning, my parents were already dead, which was my first major mistake; in my prime, I served the king of the State of Qi, but the king was proud and extravagant, and lost the hearts of the people, and I failed to fulfill my duty as a subject, which was my second greatest fault; I attached great importance to friendship in my life, but now my friends are separated, which is my third major fault." ”

Qiu Wuzi looked up at the sky and sighed, "The trees want to calm down, but the wind does not stop blowing; the son wants to serve his parents, but the parents are gone." The past will never come back, it is age; it is the parents who can never be seen again! Let me thank you for this life from now on! Therefore, Qiu Wuzi threw himself into the water and committed suicide.

Confucius said to his disciples with great sighs, "You should remember this, for this is enough to serve as a reference for us!" ”

Every child who is sincere and loyal has made a "filial piety" wish to his parents in his heart, believing that the coming day will be long, believing that the water will come to fruition, believing that he will be able to return to his hometown on the day of his achievements and fame, and can calmly fulfill his filial piety. But they forget the cruelty of time, forget the brevity of life, forget that there are kindnesses in the world that can never be repaid, and forget that life itself has a fragile vulnerability. Filial piety is a fleeting attachment, filial piety is a happiness that cannot be reproduced, and filial piety is a past that has been hated for thousands of years. Do a filial piety for your parents, you must grasp it! Take advantage of the time when your parents are alive.

2, a house is not swept, why sweep the world

During the Eastern Han Dynasty, there was a man named Chen Fan, who was very knowledgeable and ambitious, and when he was a teenager, he studied hard and took the world as his responsibility. One day, an old friend of his father', Xue Qin, came to see him and saw that the courtyard where he lived alone was overgrown with weeds and filth, so he said to him, "Why don't you clean the house to entertain the guests?" Chen Fan replied: "The eldest husband is in the world, when he sweeps the world, he will be safe in a house!" Xue Qin immediately asked, "If you don't sweep a house, why sweep the world?" Chen Fan listened to the words and felt that it was very reasonable. Since then, he began to pay attention to starting from the small things around him, and eventually became a generation of famous courtiers.

[Wisdom Whisper] Big things must start from small things. In the "Disciple Rules", it is said: "The room is clean, the walls are clean, the cases are clean, and the pen is straight." This means that the study should be cleaned and cleaned, the walls should be kept clean, and when reading, the stationery such as pen, ink, paper and stone on the desk should be placed neatly, not messy, and everything in sight should be orderly, so that you can calm down and read.

3. Mother bear guardian

Why? It turned out that the child of the mother bear played in the stream under the stone, and the mother bear was afraid that the falling stone would hit the bear, so she could not bear to hold the big stone tightly until she died.

[Wisdom Whisper] Mothers and children in the animal kingdom are attached to each other regardless of life or death, and their love and filial piety have reached the extreme. Human beings hunt animals for greed, and there is no more ruthless heart in the world!

4. Shun's story

According to the Chronicle of History, Shun's father was blind, and after the death of his birth mother, his father took another wife and gave birth to a son. The father likes his wife's son and always wants to kill Shun, and when he encounters a small mistake, he will be severely punished. But Shun honored his parents and loved his brother, and never slackened off. Shun is very clever, and when they want to kill Shun, they can't find him, but when something needs him, he is always waiting by the side.

Once, Shun climbed to the top of the granary to apply mud, and his father set fire to the granary below, but Shun, with the help of two buckets to protect himself, jumped off the granary like wings and escaped. Later, his father asked Shun to dig a well, and Shun had previously dug a secret passage to the wall of the well to other places. When digging the well into the depths, the father and brother poured soil into the well together and wanted to bury Shun alive, but Shun escaped from the dark passage. They thought that Shun would undoubtedly die, but when they saw that Shun was still alive, they said falsely, "Where did you go?" We especially miss you..." They often tried to harm Shun, but Shun did not care about his previous grievances, and still served his father and loved his brother as before. Later, his reputation was far and wide, and when Emperor Yao knew about it, he married his two daughters to him and gave way to him, and everyone in the world submitted to Shun.

[Wisdom Whisper]: The father's heart is not right, the stepmother has two sides and three knives, the younger brother is untamed, and several people collude to put Shun to death and then quickly. However, Shun was very filial to his parents, very friendly to his brother, and for many years, without any slackness, and his virtue was noble and very admirable. Only with such a broad mind and adherence to morality can he have the opportunity to be appreciated by his ancestors and become a beloved and wise monarch.

5, the old man sticks to the cicada

There is a story in "Zhuangzi" that once Confucius took his disciples to the Chu Kingdom, and on the way he passed through a forest, and in the woods there was a hunchbacked old man who was sticking with a bamboo pole. He glued it very easily, as if he had picked it up on the ground. Confucius asked: What a coincidence of your movements! Are there any doorways? The old man said: I do have my own way, after five or six months of practice, I have stacked two balls on the pole without falling, so that the case of losing hands is very rare; stacking three balls without falling, so that the situation of losing hands will not be more than once ten times; stacking five balls without falling will be as easy as picking them up on the ground. I stood still like a broken stake, and the arm that lifted the pole was like a branch of dead wood. Although the heavens and the earth are big and there are many kinds of things, I concentrate on the wings of knowledge, never think before and after, look left and right, and never change my attention to the wings of cicadas because of the complexity of all things, so why can't I succeed! Finally, Confucius turned to his disciple and said, "Concentrate on concentration, and you can practice your skills to the point of divinity." That's what the hunchback old man is saying. ”

If a person can eliminate all external interference, concentrate his energy, and practice diligently, he can master a strong skill.

6. Read the book a hundred times, and its meaning is self-evident (xiàn)

During the Three Kingdoms period, there was a man named Dong Yu in the State of Wei, who lived in poverty since childhood and ran all day for life.

However, as soon as he has free time, he sits down to read and study, so he is very knowledgeable. His brother laughed at him, but he didn't care.

Over time, he wrote two books, which caused a sensation, and people asked him what tricks he had to read.

He said, "Read the book a hundred times, and its righteousness will see itself (xiàn)." ”

People admired him, and his reputation grew.

People nearby came to him for advice and asked him how he learned.

Dong Yu told them: Those who are winter, the years are over; those who are at night, the days are over; those who are rainy, the time is over. Learning to use the three surpluses, that is, three kinds of free time: winter is more than a year, evening is a day, rainy days are weekdays.

People listened and suddenly realized. The original is to read and study through all available time to improve their own level.

Now some people always find excuses to say: "I am so busy during the day, the work pressure is so great, the pace of life is so tight, where is the time to study?" "In fact, as long as you are willing to learn on your own, time can be squeezed out." Albert Einstein and Lu Xun said the same thing: The difference between people is in their spare time. There is a famous "Three Eight Theory", that is, an ordinary adult's day should be divided into "three eights": eight hours of work, eight hours of sleep, and eight hours of free time arrangement. The first two "eights", most of which are the same, have not changed much; the difference between people lies in how the remaining eight hours are spent.

7. Deer milk is offered to relatives

During the Spring and Autumn Period, tan (tán) zi, born with filial piety, has always been praised by people, and is regarded as the embodiment of virtue, talent, wei and elegance. In the "Twenty-Four Filial Pieties" that have been praised in the history of our country, the story of Tan Zi is regarded as a model.

Tanzi's parents were old and frail, both suffering from eye diseases, and he was particularly sad and sought medical treatment everywhere. Hearing that deer milk could cure his parents' eye diseases, he put on deer skin and went deep into the mountains to mix with the deer. The hunter mistook him for a deer and was about to shoot him with an arrow, but he quickly shouted and told him the truth. The hunter was very touched when he heard this, and tried to get him deer milk and escort him out of the mountain.

[Wisdom Whisper] In the "Disciple Rules", it is said: "Parents are ordered, do not be lazy", parents have orders, we must act quickly, we should not drag, this is also an act of filial piety to parents. If you have such a concept from childhood, then once your parents are sick, you will also go to filial piety because of gratitude.

Mencius was tired of studying when he was a child, and one day he did not want to study, so he fled home. Meng Mu happened to be weaving cloth, and when she saw him return from school, she didn't say a word, and she broke the weaving shuttle, which meant that the cloth that was about to be woven was completely destroyed. Mencius was very filial and hurriedly knelt down and asked, "Why are you doing this?" Meng Mu told him: "Studying and studying is not a matter of a day or two, just like when I weave cloth, I must start from a thread, and then I can weave a piece of cloth inch by inch, and only when the cloth is woven into a horse, can it be useful and can make clothes." Reading is also the same truth, if you can't persevere, like you halfway through, shallow taste, how can you become a talent in the future? If you are a child now, you may not know how to reflect on yourself, and throw a sentence to your mother: "This is your own business." But mencius's foundation was different after all, he woke up like a dream, suddenly realized, from then on he devoted himself to learning, never casually absent from class, and later succeeded Confucius and became a "yasheng".

[Wisdom Whisper] In the "Disciple Rules", it is said: "Parents must listen to them, and parents should be responsible, and they should be obedient." "The rebuke of parents and elders should be listened to. Criticism of parents should also be seen as a teaching.

In the winter, he was afraid that his father would catch a cold, so he first burrowed into the cold quilt, warmed the quilt with his body, and then helped his father to go to bed. Unlike now, he could turn on the electric blanket and turn on the heating, and at that time he could only use his own body. In the summer, in order to make his father fall asleep quickly at night, he first cooled the mat every night, and then asked his father to sleep. Huang Xiang had such filial piety at a young age, which also made him a man and a scholarly achievement, and later he became a good official known for filial piety, known as "the world is unparalleled, Jiangxia Huangxiang", and was listed as one of the "Twenty-Four Filial Pieties".

Later, he bid farewell to Yuan Shu, and when he prostrated his head, three honey oranges rolled out of his arms. Yuan Shu laughed and said, "You haven't eaten enough, do you still want to take it?" He replied, "I have never seen such a good orange, I am reluctant to eat it, I want to give it to my mother to taste." Yuan Shu was greatly surprised to hear this, and thought that a 6-year-old child would know how to restrain himself and honor his elders, which was really precious. He sighed, "Xiao Lu Lang has such a moral character, and he will become a pillar of service to the country in the future!" Indeed, according to relevant historical records, Lu Ji's contribution to the country after he grew up was quite large.

[Wisdom Whisper] Lu Ji's six-year-old understanding of the behavior of thinking about his heart is not accidental, but actually thanks to good family education. Sun Yuanjue pulled his father and knelt down and cried and begged not to do this, but his father ignored it. He suddenly had a stroke of genius and said, "Since my father is going to throw away my grandfather, I can't do anything, but I have a request." The father asked what the request was, and he said, "I'm going to bring that basket back." The father wondered, "What do you want this for?" "Because when you're old, I'm going to use it to throw you away." When my father heard this, he was astonished: "How can you say such a thing!" Sun Yuanjue replied: "How the father educates his son, the son will do what he does." "When my father thought about it, he didn't dare to do what he thought before, and quickly took the old man home to support him."

[Wisdom Whisper]: In the "Disciple Rules", it is said: "Relatives have been, advice is more, Yi Wu color, soft wu sound." "If the parent's words and deeds are faulty and the personality is difficult to communicate, from the perspective of filial piety, the child should still persuade him to stop the bad behavior in a gentle tone, but he cannot use sharp language and arrogant attitude."

Li Ji immediately replied: "You are so sick, let others take care of you, I am not at ease." You're old now, and I'm old myself, so even if I want to cook porridge for you all the time, I don't have many opportunities. "Li Ji can treat his sister like this, which is really precious.

And his brother was just having fun, and the family property was exhausted, so Bu Shi repeatedly distributed the family property to his brother, which was praised by the neighbors. It can be seen that he is a gentleman who values righteousness over wealth.

[Wisdom Whisper]: In the Disciple Rules, it is said: "Wealth is light, resentment is born, words are forbearing, and anger is self-defeating." But the tree seemed to have a spiritual nature, and when it was intercepted the next day, it was dead. The three brothers were shocked, believing that it was a hint from the ghosts of heaven and earth that traveling against the heavens would cause ominousness, so they decided not to divide the trees again, and the bauhinia tree was immediately resurrected. They were so moved that they put together their separated possessions and never again mentioned the separation of their families.

[Wisdom Whisper]: Between man and nature, there are many mysteries that cannot be seen by the naked eye. If people are at odds with each other, causing strife and war, there will also be bad signs in the outside world, such as unsmooth wind and rain and unfamiliar grain. If human beings want to live happily, they do not want to get money, but they must adjust them from all aspects such as self-cultivation and following the Eight Parts of the Heavenly Dragon.

Fortunately, Cao Zhi was talented and exported, and soon composed a poem: "Boiling beans burn beans, beans cry in the kettle, originally born from the same root, why is it too urgent to fry?" The poem uses a metaphor: beans are boiled in a pot, and it is bean stalks that are used to cook beans, so the beans cry in the pot: "We are born of the same root, why rush to kill each other?" In this way, it alludes to Cao Pi's fierce heart. After Cao Pi heard this, he felt ashamed and did not kill Cao Zhi.

[Wisdom Whisper]: Throughout the thousands of years of history, among the descendants of emperors, there are countless examples of brotherhood for the sake of fame and status, and there are very few who live in harmony and tolerate each other. To survive in this world, if you want to live happily, the only way is to understand the principles of being a human being, if you don't understand, it is impossible to do a good job, and if you don't do well, you won't get the life you want, this is the law.

The gatekeeper said that Cheng Yi was taking a nap, and they did not want to disturb the teacher's nap, so they stood outside the door without a sound and waited.

Heavy snow drifted in the sky, getting heavier and heavier. They stood outside the door, snowflakes fluttering above their heads, and the cold made them shiver with cold, and they were still standing outside the door waiting.

After a long time, Cheng Yi woke up, and only then did he know that Yang Shi and You Su had been waiting in the snow outside the door for a long time, so he quickly called them in. At this time, the snow outside the door had accumulated more than a foot deep.

If I kill him, I am unfaithful, sorry to the country, sorry to the people; if I do not kill him and lose faith in the monarch, this is unbelief. Unfaithful or unbelieving, how can one be a man in the world? In the end, he had no choice but to hit a tree and commit suicide.

Look at the rooster, crying at dawn, the whole world vibrating, and the people getting up early. So, what's the benefit of talking more? It is important that the words are spoken at the right time. ”

This means that people should not have too many words in ordinary times, otherwise they will lose more words, and if they say too much, they will easily become the source of trouble, so it is better to say some meaningful words that are in line with reality at the appropriate time. Wang Xianzhi's mother, who was also a calligrapher, looked at the words written by Wang Xianzhi, pointed to the point above and said to him: "This point is well written. Before, Su Dongpo went to Wang Anshi to pay a visit, and it happened that he was not at home, so Su Dongpo stayed in his study and waited, and saw that there was a poem on his desk that he had not completed: "The west wind passed through the garden last night, blowing down yellow flowers and full of gold." "Meaning, last night the west wind blew through the garden, and the petals of the chrysanthemums fell to the ground, like gold covering the earth. Su Dongpo couldn't help but laugh secretly when the prime minister didn't even understand common sense, chrysanthemums bloom in autumn, the most durable, even if they dry up, they will not fall petals. So he wrote at the bottom of the verse: "The autumn flowers are no better than the spring flowers, and the poets chant carefully." "Saying that autumn chrysanthemums do not fall petals like spring flowers, please poet you carefully examine it."

After Wang Anshi came back to see it, he did not say anything, and the next day when he went to the court, he secretly asked the emperor to demote Su Dongpo to Huangzhou. After Su Dongpo was degraded, he was very dissatisfied, knowing that Wang Anshi retaliated against him because of the poem, but he couldn't help it. He lived in Huangzhou for nearly a year, and when he reached Jiujiu Chongyang, he invited his friends to the back garden to admire the chrysanthemums. Because the autumn wind blew for many days, to the garden to see, only to see the chrysanthemums have fallen petals, full of gold, he was suddenly stunned, after asking friends, he knew that chrysanthemums usually do not fall petals, but Huangzhou is more special, is falling petals. Remembering the past of giving Wang Anshi a continuation of the poem, Su Dongpo woke up to the fact that he did not have a wide range of knowledge, only looked at one side and did not know the overall situation, and never dared to laugh easily.

After a few years, Wang Anshi transferred Su Dongpo back to the capital. Su Dongpo once specifically asked Wang Anshi to sincerely apologize and admit his mistake for the continuation of the poem.

[Wisdom Whisper]: No mountains, no flat land; no sea, no streams. There are mountains outside the mountains, there are heavens outside the sky, and everyone is actually small. To judge a thing or a person, it is important to observe it in detail. Before you know the truth of the matter, you must not believe the rumors and say them casually.

According to the book "Zhenguan Politicians", Tang Taizong liked a small harrier and was playing with birds one day, Wei Zheng came, and Taizong was afraid that Wei Zheng would accuse him, so he quickly hid the bird in his arms. Wei Zheng pretended not to see it and deliberately stayed behind to discuss major state affairs with him. Although Emperor Taizong was anxious for the bird in his heart, he was also afraid of exposure, because he trusted and feared Wei Zheng. After Wei Zheng left, Emperor Taizong took out his beloved bird in his arms and looked at it, and he had already returned to Huangquan. So he returned to the harem sadly, and said angrily, "I have to kill this Tian Sheweng!" When the empress heard this, she asked ming what was going on, and immediately put on a large gown to congratulate Emperor Taizong: "Congratulations to Your Majesty, Congratulations to Your Majesty!" The Tang Dynasty had good courtiers like Wei Zheng and good emperors like you, which is a good phenomenon that has never been seen in history, and the prosperity of the country is just around the corner. Therefore, Emperor Taizong gradually calmed down his anger.

Tang Taizong often observed himself "with people as a mirror" and truly achieved the courage to change and be as good as a stream. Later, when Wei Zheng died, Tang Taizong said regretfully: "With copper as a mirror, you can wear a crown; with ancient times as a mirror, you can know the rise and fall; with people as a mirror, you can see the gains and losses." Now that Wei Zheng was gone, there was one less mirror. ”

[Wisdom Whisper]: The appearance of the body can be observed by a mirror; and one's own mental behavior must be supervised by others, or by self-contemplation, and once a mistake is found, it must be corrected immediately. It is quite important to be able to be supervised, reminded, and pointed out by others, and if a virtuous wise person points out your faults, you can infer that you must have made mistakes, and you should look back at your own efforts to correct them, and sincerely thank those who accuse you, and you should also cherish this opportunity of blessing!

25. Shi Chongdoufu

In the Jin Dynasty, Shi Chong,D., compared with Emperor Wu of Jin's uncle Wang Kai for extravagance: Wang Kai washed the pot with sugar water after eating, and Shi Chong used a candle as firewood; Wang Kai made a purple silk cloth barrier of forty miles, and Shi Chong made a fifty-mile jinbu barrier. Emperor Wu of Jin secretly helped Wang Kai and gave him a coral tree, two feet high, which was rare in the world. Wang Kai showed off to Shi Chong, but Unexpectedly, Shi Chong waved the iron ruyi, smashed the coral tree to pieces, and then laughed and ignored it: "Don't be sad, I will pay you." He ordered six or seven coral trees to be taken from left and right, all three or four feet tall, much stronger than Wang Kai's. Wang Kai had no choice but to concede defeat, smearing oil on his two feet and leaving, not even the broken coral trees.

However, such a comparison is completely foolish, the key to human life lies in virtue and knowledge, as long as a person has both good character and learning, no matter how poor life is, it is not shameful. Just like Confucius's disciple Yan Hui, although his family was poor, he was poor and happy, sensitive and studious, Confucius taught him a kind of truth, he could immediately touch the bypass, smell and know ten, and carry forward Confucius's thoughts. Confucius had high hopes for him, but unfortunately he died at the age of 32. For Yan Hui's virtue, Confucius once exclaimed: "Xianya, Huiye! A piece of food, a scoop of drink, in the dark alley, people are overwhelmed, and they will not change their happiness. This means that Yan Hui used a bamboo tube as a bowl when he ate, directly used a scoop to fill the water when drinking water, lived in a very simple alley, and others saw that he was so poor and worried for him, but he did not change his pleasure, or he was very enlightened.

[Wisdom Whisper]: In the "Disciple Rules", it is said: "Only virtue and learning, only talent, inferior to people, should be self-motivated." If you are clothed, if you eat, if you are inferior to people, do not be angry. This means that if you are inferior in character, learning, and talent, you should encourage yourself and try to catch up, and there must be a sense of competition in this regard. But material enjoyment should be reduced, not compared. Even if you live a relatively poor life, clothes, food, house, wealth, etc. are not as good as others, there is no need to worry in your heart.

26. Anecdotes about Zhu Yuanzhang

Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, lived in poverty when he was a teenager, and often herded cattle with some poor children to cut firewood. Later, Zhu Yuanzhang became emperor, and some poor friends in the past wanted to get a little light with him and get an official and a half-job, so two people went to the capital to find him.

After seeing Zhu Yuanzhang, a person first said, "Remember the scene when we cut the grass together?" One day, we stole some broad beans from the reeds and put them in a crock pot to cook. Before you can cook, you grab the beans to eat, break the crock pots, scatter the beans on the ground, you grab a handful and stuff them in your mouth, but you accidentally get stuck in your throat by a piece of grass, which makes you roll your eyes..." He was still chattering there, and Zhu Yuanzhang on the throne could no longer sit still, and immediately ordered him to be killed.

Then, Zhu Yuanzhang asked another person: "What do you have to say?" The man quickly replied, "I think back then, Wei Chen followed His Majesty's Eastern Expedition to the West, and how many 'Grass King' were beheaded with a knife." His Majesty charged forward, preemptively broke the 'Canzhou City', although he escaped from the 'Tang Marshal', but he captured the 'Bean General', and met the 'Grass Overlord' blocking the throat passage..." Zhu Yuanzhang listened, and was immediately overjoyed, and immediately surrendered his order to make him a general.

Although the content of what the two said was the same, the latter expressed the anecdote of Zhu Yuanzhang stealing food when he was a child in a special "hidden language". The parties listened and tacitly agreed with each other, while outsiders sounded that they were completely describing Zhu Yuanzhang's military career as a golden iron horse, so in the end his results were completely different.

[Wisdom Whisper]: The same thing, expressed in a gentle language, will not only not offend the other party, but also be recognized by others; but if the way of speaking is not appropriate, even if it is a matter of human joy, it may be self-defeating and fail to achieve the expected goal. Therefore, speak with skill and convenience.

27. Prescribe the right medicine

Once Zilu asked Confucius, "If I hear a good idea, should I act immediately?" Confucius replied, "Your father and brother are still here, and their experience and experience are richer than yours, so you should ask them first and don't rush to do it." ”

Then, Ran You asked Confucius the same question: "If I hear a good idea, should I act now?" Confucius replied, "Of course we must do it immediately." ”

After Gong Xihua, who was standing by the side, was puzzled and asked, "Zilu and Ran you have the same question, why are your answers different?" ”

Confucius replied, "Zilu is a rash man, does things without observation, and is more hasty and impulsive, so I ask him to think twice; Ran You cringes in the face of things, there is no courage, he needs courage and courage, so I encourage him not to hesitate, and when he hears a good idea, he must act immediately." ”

[Wisdom Whisper]: Wise people teach different people very differently. Even if they make the same wrong views or do exactly the same merit, the stakes are very different because of their different personalities. Therefore, when we encounter specific problems, we must analyze and treat them in detail, and we cannot generalize them.

28, two sleeves of fresh wind

Yu Qian was a famous courtier of the Ming Dynasty, and he was honest and upright. He lived in a time when the government was corrupt, embezzlement was rife, and bribery was rife. When local officials enter Beijing to do business, they always have to send silver to bribe their superiors first, but Only Yu Qian never gives gifts. Someone advised him: "If you refuse to send gold, silver and treasure, can't you bring some local products?" Yu Qian threw off his two sleeves, smiled and said, "I only have two sleeves of fresh air." ”

[Wisdom Whisper]: Officials have the virtues of officials, magi have the virtues of magi, and saints also have the virtues of saints. Confucius's student, Zigong, once praised his teacher for having five virtues—"gentleness, courtesy, and frugality." Zi Xia also said: "There are three changes in a gentleman: looking at it is like it, that is, it is also warm, and listening to his words is also strong." This means that the appearance of a gentleman, from the outside, has three kinds of changes: the truth looks at him from a distance and feels very solemn; when he approaches, he feels very gentle; and when he hears him, he feels that he is very stern.

29. Guan Ning cut the mat

There is a story in "The New Language of the World": Guan Ning and Hua Xin are a pair of very good friends. They ate at the same table, read in the same bed, slept in the same bed, and were inseparable all day long.

Once, they were hoeing grass in the field. Guan Ning dug up a piece of gold, but he ignored it and continued to hoe his grass. When Hua Xin learned about it, he dropped his hoe and ran over, picking up the gold and touching it, loving it. Guan Ning saw the situation and, while working, scolded him: "Money should be obtained by one's own hard work, and a moral person cannot covet the property that he has obtained without work." Hua Xin listened, reluctantly dropped the gold and went back to work, but kept sighing. Guan Ning saw him like this, no longer said anything, just secretly shook his head.

Again, the two of them sat on a mat and read. At this time, a big official passed by the window, beating gongs and drums, hugging front and back, and the wind was majestic. Guan Ning turned a deaf ear to the noise outside, as if nothing had happened. Hua Xin was attracted by this kind of pomp and circumstance, he felt that he could not see clearly in the house, simply did not even read the book, and hurried to the street to see the liveliness.

Guan Ning witnessed what Hua Xin had done and could no longer suppress the disappointment in his heart. When Hua Xin returned, he cut the mat in half in front of him and announced bitterly: "Our ambitions and tastes are so different." From now on, we will be like this cut grass mat, no longer friends! This is the famous "Guan Ning Cutting Seat" in history.

[Wisdom Whisper]: In the Disciple Rules, it is said: "No kindness, infinite harm, villains enter, and everything is bad." "If you refuse to get close to a moral benevolent person, you will invisibly bring unlimited harm to yourself." Once you give the villain a chance, everything you do will fail, and you may even fall into the abyss of sin.

30. Confucius learned to play the piano

Once upon a time, Confucius learned the piano from his teacher Xiangzi. After Shi Xiangzi taught a piece of music, Confucius played it every day without getting tired of it. After ten days, Shi Xiangzi said, "You play this song very well, and you can learn new songs." Confucius said, "Although I have learned music notation, I have not yet mastered some difficult techniques." ”

After many more days, Shi Xiangzi said, "You have mastered the technique of playing, and you can learn new songs." Confucius said, "I have not yet tasted the charm of this piece." ”

After many more days, Shi Xiangzi said, "You have grasped the charm of this piece of music, and you can learn a new one." Confucius said: "I have not yet experienced what kind of a composer is, and I have not yet penetrated into his inner world." ”

After many more days, Confucius solemnly looked into the distance and said, "I now know who the composer is." This man was dark, burly, and ambitious, and if he wanted to unify the four directions, he must be King Wen of Zhou. After Shi Xiangzi heard this, he immediately left the table to perform the ritual and said, "This song is called "Wen Wang Cao"!" ”

[Wisdom Whisper]: Learning requires single-mindedness and going deep into it. If you stay on the surface, or if you don't go deeper, it will be difficult to grasp the deeper truth. And learning is not for others to learn, but for us to learn for ourselves, to better grasp knowledge, improve ability, and serve the society. Therefore, people who are really interested in learning will devote themselves to it with their hearts and go deeper, and will not easily pass or give up halfway.

31. Compile the Pu Scribe

Lu Wenshu in the Western Han Dynasty, he was very fond of learning when he was a teenager, but his family was very poor and had no money to study, so he had to herd sheep for a living. One day, he drove the sheep to a pond, saw a bush of wide and long grass, and with a stroke of genius, he picked a large bundle of grass to carry home, dried and flattened, cut it into the same length as the bamboo, and woven it together. Then he borrowed books from others, copied them on these grasses, and made them into booklets. Since then, every time he went to herd sheep, he carried this kind of book with him, and read books while herding sheep, and gained a lot of knowledge from it. Later, Lu Wenshu became a learned man by self-study, because he was proficient in the Book of Han and familiar with the law, and later became a prison official, and finally became a famous legal expert in Linhuai Taishou.

[Wisdom Whisper]: Many great men and women in history have studied diligently under difficult conditions and finally achieved success. The ancients said: "Jade is not a craftsmanship, not a tool." "If a person wants to pursue knowledge and virtue, and wants to make a difference, he must have lofty ambitions and firm beliefs, and strive to persevere and work hard.

32. The heart is straight

There was a famous calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty named Liu Gongquan, who showed a great talent in calligraphy from an early age, and his writing was famous far and wide. One day, Liu Gongquan and a few friends held a "book party". At this time, an old man who sold tofu saw that he wrote a few words "can write Fei Fengjia, dare to boast in front of people", felt that this child was too proud, he frowned, and said: "This word is not well written, like my tofu, no muscles and no bones, is it still worth praising in front of people?" Xiao Gongquan listened and said very unhappily: "I have the ability, you write a few words for me to see." ”

The old man smiled heartily and said, "Don't dare, don't dare, I'm a rough person, I can't write well." However, some people write much better than you with their feet! If you don't believe me, go to Huajing City and have a look. ”

The next day, Xiao Gongquan got up and went to Huajing City alone. As soon as I entered Huajing City, I saw many people surrounded by a large locust tree. He squeezed into the crowd, only to see a thin black old man with no beard and arms sitting barefoot, pressing paper with his left foot and holding a pen in his right foot, writing couplets with ease, and the handwriting of his pen was like a group of horses galloping, dragons flying and phoenix dancing, which won the applause of the onlookers.

Xiao Gongquan "pounced" and knelt down in front of the old man and said, "I am willing to worship you as a teacher, please tell me the secret of writing..." The old man hurriedly pulled up Xiao Gongquan with his feet and said: "I am a lonely and miserable person, born without hands, I have to live on my feet, how can I be a teacher?" The little public power pleaded bitterly, and the old man spread a piece of paper on the ground and wrote a few words with his right foot: "Write eight tanks of water, and dye the black waterlogged pond; win a hundred parents, and the dragon and phoenix will fly." ”

Liu Gongquan took the old man's words to heart and practiced his words from then on. Thick cocoons were worn on the hands, and layers were patched up on the elbows. After hard work, Liu Gongquan finally became a generation of calligraphers.

Not only did he write well, but he was also as good as his character, iron-boned and upright ( ē ) . It is said that once when Liu Gongquan was writing, Emperor Muzong looked at it with admiration and asked in surprise, "How can your writing be so good?" Can you tell me the secret of calligraphy? Liu Gongquan replied without hesitation: "With the pen in the heart, the heart is correct!" "The trick to writing lies in the heart, the heart is not pure, it is not correct, and the words cannot be beautiful.

[Wisdom Whisper]: No matter what you do, you need to be single-minded, study and practice hard, in order to succeed. In the "Disciple Rules", it is said: "The ink is biased, the heart is misbehaving, the words are disrespectful, and the heart is sick first." This means that the ancients used a brush to write, before writing to grind ink, if the mind is absent, the ink will be worn off, if the written word is crooked, it means that you are impetuous and restless, and your mind cannot be settled. A person's words can reflect inner wisdom. If the writing is crooked and twisted, and it is not clear to see for half a day, this person may be very confused; if the writing is generous and neat, it can also be inferred that his thinking is clear and his discernment ability is strong.

33. Book Saint Wang Xizhi

Wang Xizhi was a famous calligrapher in ancient times, and was recognized as a "book saint".

When Wang Xizhi was 13 years old, he accidentally discovered that his father had a calligraphy book called "Speaking Pen" and stole it to read it. His father, fearing that he would not be able to keep the family heirloom secret at a young age, promised to teach it when he grew up. Unexpectedly, Wang Xizhi actually knelt down and begged his father to allow him to read now, and his father was very touched and finally agreed to his request.

Wang Xizhi practiced calligraphy very hard, even eating and walking, really to the point of practicing all the time. Without a pen and paper, he scribbled on his body, and over time, his clothes were torn. Sometimes I practice calligraphy to the point of being unsentimental. Once, when he practiced writing and forgot to eat, his family sent the meal to the study, and he even tasted it without thinking about dipping it in ink, and he still felt very delicious. When the family found out, it was already full of ink black. Wang Xizhi often came to the pool to write, on the pool washed the stone, for a long time, the pool water exhausted the ink, known as the "ink pool".

For a while, everyone praised him for writing well, and he was smug and complacent. One day, he went to a dumpling restaurant to eat dumplings and found that the dumplings were thrown one by one from the other side of the wall, and they were thrown in the pot very accurately. He was very curious, and when he looked behind the wall, he saw that it was an old lady making dumplings, and after wrapping them, he threw his head over the wall without lifting his head, and none of them fell outside the pot. Wang Xizhi asked her what the trick was, and she said, "Nothing, just skilled!" After Wang Xizhi listened, he felt that his words were far from reaching this level of proficiency, so he demanded himself more strictly, and finally became a generation of masters.

[Wisdom Whisper]: A person who knows how to be modest has room for progress, just imagine if Wang Xizhi did not meet the old man who made dumplings, he would not realize his gap, and there would be no subsequent efforts, and we would not see such a calligraphy ink treasure as "Lanting Collection" now.

34. The inspection of the lost

The "Spring and Autumn of the Lü Dynasty" records a story that when Confucius ran out of grain between Chen Guo and Cai Guo, he did not eat for seven days and seven nights, and could only lie there listlessly. One day, the disciple Yan Hui found a little rice and prepared to cook it for the teacher. When it was almost cooked, Yan Hui grabbed a handful and ate it first. Confucius quietly looked in his eyes and felt that Yan Hui was a bit "polite", so he was not very happy.

After a while, the rice was ripe, and Yan Hui asked Confucius to eat it first. Confucius skillfully said, "I have just dreamed of the ancestors, so I should offer clean food before eating." Yan Hui immediately replied, "Absolutely not!" Just now, some soil ash fell into the pot, and although I grabbed it and ate it, the rice was already dirty, so I couldn't provide for the ancestors. At this time, Confucius realized that the wrong face had returned.

Afterwards, Confucius sighed with deep feeling: "Those who believe in him have the same eyes, but the eyes are still untrustworthy; the heart of the one who is bullied is also the heart of the one who is not enough." Disciples remember that it is not easy to know people. This means: I believe in my own eyes, but what the eyes see is sometimes unreliable; I depend on my own heart, but sometimes the analysis of the mind is not reliable. Disciples should remember that it is not easy to understand a person!

[Wisdom Whisper]: Some people think that "hearing is false, seeing is believing", but sometimes it is not necessarily. Do not think that what you see and hear is true, there is no doubt, and judging the good or bad of others based on one's own opinion is not necessarily particularly reliable, and it is likely to be mixed with untrue elements.

35. Do not eat Zhou Millet

According to legend, Boyi and Shuqi were the eldest and third sons of the Monarch of the Lone Bamboo State at the end of the Shang Dynasty. When the monarch of the Lone Bamboo Kingdom was alive, he wanted to make Shuqi the heir to the throne. After his death, Shu Qi wanted to cede the throne to his eldest brother Boyi. Bo Yi said, "Your reign as monarch is your father's last will, so how can you change it at will?" So Bo Yi fled. Shu Qi still refused to become the monarch and fled. The people pushed the second son of the lone bamboo monarch to inherit the throne.

Speaking of the Boyi brothers, the reason why they gave up the country was because they were dissatisfied with the tyranny of the Shang King at that time and were unwilling to cooperate with him. They lived in seclusion on the shores of the Bohai Sea, waiting for the arrival of the Qingping World. Later, I heard that the Zhou clan was strong in the West, and King Wen of Zhou was a moral person, and the two brothers traveled a long way to the Zhou capital Qishan. At this time, King Wen of Zhou was dead, and King Wu was on the throne. King Wu heard that two sages had arrived and sent Ji Dan, the Duke of Zhou, to greet them. The Duke of Zhou made an oath with them, promising them the second rank of their brothers and the corresponding positions. The two of them looked at each other and laughed and said, "Strange." This is not the kind of benevolence we seek. ”

King Wu of Zhou, seeing the political turmoil in the Shang Dynasty, was anxious to sit on the throne, advocated scheming and bribery, increased his power by relying on military strength, expressed loyalty to the ghosts and gods by slaughtering livestock and smearing the covenant book with blood, preached his virtue everywhere to please the people, and used conquest and killing to seek profit. The two of them were very disappointed in their defection to Western Zhou. When King Wu of Zhou took the coffin containing his father King Wen of Zhou and marched down, Bo Yi stopped King Wu's horse head and said, "When my father died and was not buried, he started a war, is this called filial piety?" As a merchant courtier, but he wants to kill the monarch, is this called benevolence? The people around them wanted to kill Bo Yi and Shu Qi, but they were stopped by Jiang Shang, the minister of the unified army.

After King Wu of Zhou destroyed the Shang, he became the suzerainty of the world. Bo Yi and Shu Qi were ashamed of their submission to Western Zhou. In order to show their integrity, they no longer ate the grain of the Western Zhou Dynasty and lived in seclusion in Shouyang Mountain, eating wild vegetables on the mountain. King Wu of Zhou sent people to invite them and promised the world to give in, but they still refused to go out of the mountains to shi Zhou. Later, a woman in the mountains said to them, "You do not eat the rice of the Zhou Dynasty, but these wild vegetables you eat are also from the Zhou Dynasty!" The woman's words reminded them, and they didn't even eat the wild vegetables. On the seventh day, when they were about to starve to death, they sang a song with lyrics to the effect of: "Climb the Yang Mountain, collect wild vegetables to fill your hunger." Western Zhou replaced brutality with cruelty, and I don't know that the fault lies in myself. The era of Shennong, Shun, and Yu has suddenly disappeared, where is our destination? Oops, we're dying, and the fate of the Shang Dynasty has faded. So they starved to death at the foot of Shouyang Mountain.

[Wisdom Whisper]: From the perspective of the world, some people would rather be crushed than tiled in order to steal their lives in order not to be scrupulous. Shantideva admonishes us that it is better to die in the present moment without benefit than to be fed by evil life, and if we fall into such a situation, it is better to die early.

36. Absolutely

The allusion of "Absolute Wisp" originates from Liu Xiang's "Saying Yuan Fuen" in the Han Dynasty.

After the King of Chuzhuang quelled the rebellion, he feasted on his courtiers, and his concubines were all present to help him. The sound of silk and bamboo, light singing and dancing, fine wine and food, and staggered until dusk, it was still not fun. The King of Chu ordered the candlelight to be feasted on the night, and specially asked the two most beloved beauties, Xu Ji and Mai Ji, to take turns to toast to the wenchen warriors.

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew through, and the candles on the feast were extinguished. At this time, an official dared to hold Xu Ji's hand, and during the pull, Xu Ji tore off the sleeve to break free, and ripped off the ribbon on the man's hat. Xu Ji returned to king Chu Zhuang to complain, asking king Chu to light the candle and check the hats of the people in order to find out who had just been rude.

After hearing this, King Chu Zhuang ordered not to light candles, but to say loudly: "The widow has set up a feast today, and you must disperse with all of you." I now ask you all to remove your hats so that you can drink more often. ”

Hearing King Zhuang of Chu say this, everyone took off their hats, and only then did they light candles, and the monarch dispersed with pleasure. Xi scattered back to the palace, and Xu Ji blamed King Chu Zhuang for not giving her anger. King Zhuang of Chu said: "This time the monarchs and courtiers feasted and drank, and they were all in a carnival, and the relationship between the monarchs and the courtiers was harmonious. Drunken gaffe is a common sentiment of people, and if they want to be held responsible and punished, wouldn't it be a big deal to spoil the scenery? Xu Ji understood King Chu Zhuang's intentions.

This is the famous "feast of absolutes" in history.

Seven years later, King Zhuang of Chu cut down Zheng. A general took the initiative to lead his men to open the way first. Wherever this warrior went, he fought to the death, defeated the enemy army, and killed him directly before the capital of Zheng Guoguo. After the war, the king of Chuzhuang was rewarded for his merits and deeds, and only then did he learn that his name was Tang Cunning. He said that he did not want to be rewarded, and admitted that the rude person at the banquet seven years ago was himself, and today's move is all in retribution for the unrequited grace of seven years ago.

[Wisdom Whisper]: King Chu Zhuang tolerated and tolerated for a while, but invisibly saved his own life. To be kind to others is to be kind to oneself. Illuminate life with tolerance, and life will often return to yourself with a more beautiful road.

37, three people into a tiger

Pang Gong, the grand master of the State of Wei, who was about to accompany Prince Wei to the State of Zhao as a hostage, said to the King of Wei before leaving: "If a person says that there is a tiger in the street market, will the king believe it?" ”

King Wei said, "I don't believe it." ”

Pang Gong said: "If two people say that there are tigers in the street market, will the king believe it?" ”

King Wei said, "I will believe it and be suspicious." ”

Pang Gong added, "If three people say that there are tigers in the street market, will the king believe it?" ”

King Wei said, "I believe it." ”

Pang Gong said: "There will be no tigers in the street market, this is obvious, but after three people said it, it seems that there are really tigers." Now Zhao Guo is much farther away from Wei Guo than the street market here, and there are more than three people talking about me, if someone says bad things about me after I leave, I hope that the king will be able to check it out. ”

King Wei said, "I have my own measure in everything." ”

Later, the crown prince ended the hostage's life, but the King of Wei really listened to the villain's rumors and did not summon Pang Gong again.

[Wisdom Whisper]: To judge the authenticity of a thing, we must not listen to it and believe it, but must be carefully considered, otherwise we will mistakenly take the rumors seriously. Commenting on others should be cautious, and when looking at others' faults, we must observe them repeatedly, otherwise, speculation will begin to slander, and sometimes a casual sentence will bring lifelong harm to others.

38. Eliminate the three harms every week

During the Three Kingdoms period, there was a man named Zhou Chu, who was very famous in Yixing. Of course, he did not have a good name, but a bad name. Because he was relatively tall, he had died since he was a child, he had no opportunity to study, people were very barbaric, and they beat people with their fists at every turn, and the people were afraid of him. There is a dragon in the river of Yixing, a white-fronted tiger on the mountain, and the three of them together endanger the people, which are known locally as the "three plagues".

Later, someone thought of a way to persuade The Surroundings to kill the tiger and the dragon, hoping that the three scourges would kill each other through a civil war. So Zhou Fu immediately killed the tiger and went down the river to slay the dragon. He fought with the dragon everywhere, and did not come out for three days and three nights, and the local people thought he was dead and happily celebrated it. As a result, after Zhou Fu killed the dragon, he came out of the water, heard that the townspeople were celebrating their death, and Fang knew that everyone regarded him as a scourge, so he had the intention of repenting. Later, he sought out a cultivated celebrity, Lu Yun, listened to his teachings, changed his mind, reformed himself, and eventually became a very great loyal minister, doing a lot of beneficial things for the people.

[Wisdom Whisper]: If a person does not make mistakes, a person should first know that he is ashamed and ashamed, in order to repent and rehabilitate. Guilt means to have great sorrow and boredom over those inferior beings and the evil things they have done.

39. Learning is endless

Su Dongpo has loved to read since he was a child, he is talented and smart, he never forgets, and every time he reads an article, he can recite it word for word. After several years of hard study, he is already a well-educated man. One day, he took a drink, wrote a couplet with a pen, and ordered his family to paste it at the gate. It reads: "Read all the books of the world, and read all the words of the world." ”

A few days later, Su Dongpo was reading at home when he overheard the servant report that someone outside the door had asked to see him. When he came out, he saw an old lady with white hair. The old lady pointed to the couplet on the door and asked him, "Have you really read all the books of the world and read all the words of the world?" ”

When Su Dongpo heard this, he was very unhappy in his heart and said arrogantly: "Can I deceive people?" ”

The old lady took a book out of her pocket, handed it to her and said, "I have this book here, please help me see, what is written on it?" ”

Su Dongpo took the book, turned it from the beginning to the end, and then turned it from the end to the head, and did not recognize a single word on the book. He couldn't help but feel ashamed, feeling that his big words were too humiliating, and reached out to tear the couplet off the door.

The old lady rushed forward to stop: "Slow! I can change this pair. So I added two words in front of each sentence and changed it to: "I read all the books in the world with anger, and I am determined to know all the words in the world," and earnestly admonished: "Young people, there is no end to learning!" ”

[Wisdom Whisper]: We have a human body for the time being, but the ideas of ordinary people are not always credible, so we must work hard day and night to do something meaningful. In the process of studying, we must also remember the phrase "learning is endless", and we must not be proud and complacent and have less.

40. Guan Bao's friendship

In the spring and autumn, Bao Shuya and Guan Zhong were good friends, and the two knew each other very well.

The two of them used to do business together and contribute the same amount of money. When sharing profits, Guan Zhong always has to take more. Everyone else was upset about Uncle Bao's teeth, but Bao Shuya said that Guan Zhong was not greedy for money, but his family was poor.

Guan Zhong helped Bao Shuya several times but did not do a good job, and three times he was dismissed as an official. Others said that Guan Zhong had no talent, and Bao Shuya came out to speak for Guan Zhong: "This is by no means that Guan Zhong has no talent, but he has not encountered the opportunity to display his talent." ”

What's more, Guan Zhong was dragged three times to join the war and fled three times, and people ridiculed him as greedy for life and afraid of death. Bao Shuya said bluntly again: "Guan Zhong is not a greedy person who is afraid of death, and he has an old mother in his family who needs to be raised!" ”

Later, Bao Shuya became a counselor to Xiao Bai, the Prince of Qi, and Guan Zhong served another prince of the State of Qi. Xiao Bai bent down and pretended to be dead, deceived Guan Zhong, drove back to The country day and night, and inherited the throne, known as the Duke of Qi Huan. Gongzi was defeated and killed, and Guan Zhong also became a prisoner of the order.

After Duke Huan of Qi ascended the throne, he wanted to worship Bao Shuya as his face and wanted to kill Guan Zhong to avenge his death. Bao Shuya insisted on resigning from the position of Xiangguo, and pointed out that Guan Zhongzhi's talent was far superior to his own, and urged Qi Huangong to disregard his previous suspicions and use Guan Zhong as his prime minister.
