On May 14, the inaugural meeting of Zigong Weiqi Association was held, marking the beginning of a new journey for the development of Weiqi sports in our city. Song Xuelin, vice chairman of the Sichuan Weiqi Association, awarded medals to the Zigong Weiqi Association. Wei Jianhua, vice chairman of the Sichuan Weiqi Association and president of the Chengdu Chess Academy, delivered a speech at the meeting. Yan Yonghong was elected as the chairman of the Zigong Weiqi Association.
At the inaugural meeting, the Zigong Municipal Sports Federation read out the approval of the establishment of the Zigong Weiqi Association, and read out the congratulatory message sent by Chen Wenhua, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, to the establishment of the Zigong Weiqi Association. At the meeting, the "Constitution of zigong chess association" was also deliberated and adopted, and the list of members of the first leadership team of the association and honorary positions, councils, honorary directors, deputy secretaries-general, and personnel of various special committees was read out. Yang Yunwei was hired as an advisor to the Zigong Chess Association, and Zeng Rong was awarded the title of Honorary Chairman of the Zigong Go Association.
In recent years, the Zigong Go sport has shown a benign development momentum, the team of Go enthusiasts has become increasingly large, driving nearly 30,000 people to participate in the Game of Go, the frequency of competitions organized by the city, district and county chess associations is high, and the actual combat ability of chess players to participate in various competitions has been enhanced. Zigong Go has long been in the first echelon of the province, especially the popularization and training of young people, and is at the first-class level in the province.
The establishment of the Zigong Weiqi Association will build a platform for more Weiqi enthusiasts to communicate and carry out activities, and more effectively promote the development of this sport in Zigong. After the establishment of the association, it will focus on the "four new developments" of organizational work, event activities, popularization of Go, and training work, and create a new situation of Zigong Go. The association will gradually guide the establishment of district and county Go organizations, increase the construction of individual and group membership services, improve the construction of the system; innovate adult, elderly and juvenile competition activities, strengthen exchange activities between southern Sichuan, provinces and cities; actively create Sichuan Provincial Go characteristic schools on the basis of the city's chess sports entering the campus; earnestly grasp the work of Go training, and discover and cultivate young Go talents through multiple channels.
