Zhou Xingzeng, chairman of Shanghai Jianqiao University, delivered a speech
Zhou Xingzeng, chairman of Shanghai Jianqiao College, said: On the day of the National Day, the competition of holding the Jianqiao Cup has a special meaning, and it is the Weiqi community that expresses its blessings to the 72nd birthday of the motherland in its own way.
Lin Jianchao, Chairman of the Chinese Weiqi Association, delivered a speech
Lin Jianchao, chairman of the China Weiqi Association, said: This time we came from Beijing to present awards to outstanding female chess players who won the championship and runner-up of the Jianqiao Cup.
The Jianqiao Cup competition lasted for 18 years, and for a long time it was the most influential competition in the Chinese women's professional Go competition, and it led to a series of women's Go competitions. For a long time, this tournament has been the most eager and most desired competition for Chinese female chess players to participate in and most hope to win the crown. The experience of the Bridge Building Cup competition is very rich, I remember once going to Bali, Indonesia, inviting the most beautiful female chess players to the most beautiful scenic spots in the world, which is Zhou Zong's (Zhou Xingzeng)'s love and romance for Go, and we sincerely thank Mr. Zhou for his contribution.
In the past two years, due to the ravages of the epidemic, the Bridge Cup has been affected a little in a short period of time. However, it quickly came out of this shadow, with the firmness and persistence of Mr. Zhou, in this year's major events, the Bridge Building Cup is unique. The spiritual connotation of the Jianqiao Cup is very excellent, so I heard that the leaders of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee came to the school to investigate, and I was actually impressed by the spirit of your school building. This also shows the high degree of affirmation of the leaders of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government for the establishment of the school. This competition, under the name of "Building Bridges", was born and developed on the basis of the Bridge Building Campus. Because there is such a good foundation, the spiritual connotation is particularly rich. What has touched me for a long time is that this school greatly advocates the spirit of Lei Feng, and learning from the spirit of Lei Feng and the deeds of Chairman Mao shows the fullness and upward pursuit of their inner spiritual world.
So our female chess players grew up in such a game, which can be said to be full of sunshine and rain. Starting from Zhang Xuan, who has won the Jianqiao Cup, almost all the best Chinese female chess players, including female chess players who have won the championship and runner-up and other good results. I remember that Hua Xueming wrote a book dedicated to building bridges, called "The Road to Building Bridges", which is a complete record and a vivid textbook. I think that we Go players, especially female chess players, should read this book and feel the connotation, origin and contribution of our cup.
Driven by a series of important competitions such as the Jianqiao Cup, Chinese Go is now showing a prosperous situation of five industries. A very big feature of this is that no matter how the external environment changes, Chinese professional Go tournaments have always flourished. Taking this year as an example, from January to early October, 31 professional Go tournaments have been held, including 11 worldwide international Go competitions, 5 included in the state general administration of sports tournament plan, 4 title battles (Tianyuan, Qisheng, National Player, Celebrity, etc.), 9 title cups, including our famous Jianqiao Cup, and finally 2 professional and amateur competitions this year (Dream Hometown Cup). Some of the 31 competitions are completed in one go, some are carried out by stage by round, and some are interspersed. In fact, in terms of number of matches, there are more than 70 competitions.
The impact and role of these competitions is unlimited. Especially in the difficult situation of the epidemic this year, a batch of outstanding chess players and seedlings have emerged from these competitions. Zhou Hongyu used to be a little girl carried by her mother, and the first time we noticed her was because she defeated Rui Naiwei in the women's armor. In the past four years, after growing up, she has won 4 major competitions, starting from the newcomer Wang Zhan champion in Shanghai, to the women's celebrity battle champion, to the Wu Qingyuan Cup champion, and now back to Shanghai to win the Jianqiao Cup championship. These seemingly accidental, but in fact full of necessity. There is a famous saying in the Marxist philosophical view: What is necessity? What is serendipity? Chance is inevitable intersection. The point at which two must intersect is chance. All accidents contain the element of necessity, in other words, all of these do not happen out of thin air, and Xiao Zhou fully illustrates this point.
Although Zhao Yifei did not win the championship this time, your performance this time is already amazing enough. It can be said that in the process of passing the level, you have helped Zhou Hongyu pick out her biggest opponents, so Zhou Hongyu must thank you (laughs). The two of them were particularly likable this time, and both were excellent.
From a competition like the Jianqiao Cup, so many outstanding talents have been cultivated for Chinese Go, and I think we all praise Mr. Zhou and thank him for his contribution. We enjoy building bridges, enjoying Zhou Zong, enjoying the Shanghai Weiqi Association, enjoying everything that the Shanghai Chess Academy has brought and created to us, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
I wish the two outstanding young female chess players an important step in the life of Go here, and I also wish that our Bridge Building College will go one step further and move towards new glory on the existing basis!
Zhu Ruiting, president of Shanghai Jianqiao College, delivered a speech
Zhu Ruiting, President of Shanghai Jianqiao College: Shanghai Jianqiao College founded the communication science (Go) major in 2018, and this year has entered its fourth year, and there will be the first batch of graduates next year. I am very happy that this profession has been strongly supported by Chairman Lin from the birth of the founding, all the way to the current operation.
At present, the Go major is attached to the communication major, called the communication science (Go) major. We are applying for a special "Go major", which was first declared this year, and in the 28 approved expert votes, we received 11 votes in favor and 17 votes against. Although this year was not successful, our "Eight-Year War of Resistance" will continue to do so, and I hope that the leaders of the Go community will vigorously support and help us.

At this point, the 18th Jianqiao Cup China Women's Go Open Tournament came to a successful end. After ushering in the first post-00s champion, what kind of story will the Jianqiao Cup, the longest-lasting, largest and most expensive women's title battle in the Chinese Go industry, bring us in the future? Let's wait and see next year.
