While in Shanghai, Xu Maoyong, Liu Yunwen and his wife and writer and journalist Cao Juren were friends and neighbors, and Liu Yunwen handed over the love letter that Xu Maoyong wrote to her sister to Cao Juren for safekeeping. Cao Juren read the love letter written by Xu Maoyong and said that it made people numb.
