The Fujian Museum has a silk painting of flowers and birds from the Lü Dynasty of the Ming Dynasty, which is huge in size, nearly 3 and a half meters long and 184 meters wide. 5 centimeters, which is rare in Lü Ji's works, depicts swans, starlings, butterflies and other creatures playing on the plum blossom trees by the river and under the scene with heavy colors. A pair of swans, a sideways curved neck looking back at the ancient plum, a starling looking up at the sky, the goose body is as white as jade, and the eyes are carved with gods. The ancient plum branches are vigorous and vibrant. The tree is lined with Taihu lake stone and moon flowers, and there are double hook bamboo hidden behind the stone, which is a masterpiece of flower and bird painting in the courtyard of the Ming Dynasty.
Fake Jinyi Wei, a real painter
Lü Ji, a native of Ningbo, Zhejiang, is known as the first person to paint flowers and birds in the Ming Dynasty. He has two kinds of painting methods, heavy color and ink freehand, the brush painting depicts seiko, the color is rich, the law is rigorous; the ink painting is thick and wavy, randomly dotting, concise and unrestrained. He was a court painter of the Ming Dynasty, and had a great influence on the court at that time, even one of the sources of Japanese screen painting. Lü Ji's "Liuyin Double Duck Diagram" and "Youjian Double Heron Diagram" are not only masterpieces of ming dynasty panoramic flower and bird painting, but also included in the "Listening to Song Qingjian" published in Japan, which is a representative work of evidence for the influence of Chinese painting on Japanese painting.
But more special is Lü Ji's other position, the commander of the Jinyi Guard, that is, the chief of the Jinyi Guard, with the rank of Congyi Pin . Lü Ji was only a nominal cadre in Jinyiwei. Once the paintings of ming dynasty painters were appreciated by the emperor, they were rewarded with gold and silver, and even official positions were possible. However, the Ming Dynasty's painting academy was not formally organized, and once it was promoted to an official, it could only be attached to other departments, and Lü Ji was just attached to the Jinyiwei.

However, the commander of the Jinyi Guard was indeed a down-to-earth high-ranking official from Yipin, and he was not the emperor's confidant, nor could he be attached to the Jinyi Guard, and Lü Ji could be said to have won the emperor's appreciation by virtue of his superb painting skills.
