In addition to the eunuch dictatorship, Zhu Jianshen was also an emperor who believed in Buddhism and Taoism, which led to his spending a lot on the construction of monasteries and Taoist temples, and at the same time, he also gave these monasteries and Taoist temples a lot of land, which led to the fact that the people at that time had no land to plant and became displaced people, and the common people did not have a good life to participate in local uprisings. On a relatively large scale, there were the Jingxiang Displaced People's Uprising, the Dayengxia Ethnic Minority Uprising, the Guyuan ShidaMansi Uprising, and so on.

Although he also showed his benevolence during his reign, he added a courtesy name to Zhu Qiyu, for Yu Qian zhaoxue, and punished him with leniency. However, during Zhu Jianshen's reign, the government was abandoned, the eunuchs were monopolized, the demons and monks were rampant, land annexation became popular, and extravagance was excessive, and the savings since the founding of the Ming Dynasty were exhausted. It can be said that his reign further weakened the national strength of the Ming Dynasty.
