Experience of reading "Lü's General History of China"

After more than two months, I finally finished reading this copy of Mr. Lü Simian's "General History of Lü's Writings on China"!

Experience of reading "Lü's General History of China"

The book is divided into two parts, the first part is divided into eighteen chapters, which are explained from the aspects of marriage, family system, political system, class, property, official system, election, taxation, military system, criminal law, industry, currency, food and clothing, housing, education, language, scholarship, and religion. It can be said that politics, economy, culture and society are all-encompassing. Each chapter is from the beginning of prehistoric mythology to the end of the Republic of China, with its own views, its own arguments, and its own speculations (which guide us in the direction of academic inquiry), and still maintains the tradition of the older generation of scholars who did not do it. Each chapter can be described as whiplash, the words are pearlescent, and the social problems of China are viewed from the perspective of historians, and their own views are put forward. The academic chapter is an in-depth analysis with the posture of a historian, knowing people and discussing the world, opposing intentions, and having novel and peculiar arguments, which open people's minds and emancipate their minds.

The next part is mainly a general history of Chinese politics, introducing and commenting on the more prominent monarchs (good and bad) monarchs in the past, and using nearly 150,000 words to outline a chapter of the commentary table of ancient Chinese emperors, so that you can grasp the basic common sense of ancient Chinese politics in a short period of time.

The book was written to meet the needs of the university textbooks of that time (during the War of Resistance) and is still very helpful to us today. It effectively avoids the drawbacks of the same dynastic teaching in junior high school, high school, and university history classes, and helps us build a systematic historical knowledge.

This is another huge work that has been extremely rewarding after reading Mr. Qian Mu's "Introduction to Chinese Cultural History"! Worth recommending!
