On October 23, 1922, Shanghai University, the first regular university founded by the Communist Party of China and the first school to train revolutionary cadres, was formally established in Qingyunli, Zhabei District, and trained a large number of revolutionary youth and talents in various fields. In his opening speech, Cheng Danhong, secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai University, said that the establishment of the Research Center for the Early Leaders of the Communist Party of China is to pass on the style and spirit of the early leaders of the Communist Party of China and take it as an important resource for educating students.

Yan Aiyun, director of the Party History Research Office of the Municipal Party Committee, said that the Party Committee of Shanghai University attaches great importance to making good use of the red resources around it, cherishes the glorious history and red blood of Shanghai University, and hopes that in the future, this research can further guide teachers and students to carry forward the glorious tradition, inherit the red gene, and create new glory on the new journey of the new era.

Yan Aiyun also announced the list of directors of the Research Center for the Early Leaders of the Communist Party of China and the first batch of special researchers, with Cheng Danhong as the director of the center and Duan Yong, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Shangda University, as deputy director. The center appointed Ren Yuanfang, the daughter of Ren Bishi, as the first batch of special researchers.

Zhang Liming, Executive Director of Shanghai Red Culture Research Institute, presided over the keynote speech of the academic seminar "Early Leaders of the Communist Party of China and Shanghai University". Su Zhiliang, Qin Hong, and Xin Ping delivered speeches on the themes of "Children of the Times, Sons of Shanghai: The Birth of Shanghai University," "Qin Bangxian (Bogu) and Shanghai University," and "The Great Founding Spirit and the Revolutionary Practice of Old Shanghai University." A number of experts and scholars also conducted in-depth discussions on issues related to the early development of the CCP and Shanghai University from different perspectives.

Ouyang Hua, deputy secretary of the party committee of Shangda University, made a summary.
