MANILA, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- The fourth batch of COVID-19 vaccines aided by the Chinese government from the Philippines arrived in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, on October 24 to help the Philippines accelerate the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination program.
Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian handed over the vaccine to the Philippines at Manila International Airport.
Calito Galves, the Philippine government's general coordinator for responding to the new crown epidemic, said that thanking China for once again assisting in the new crown vaccine is a strong support for the Philippine side to control the epidemic and reflects the friendship between the two countries.
Huang Xilian said that vaccine assistance reflects the friendship between the Chinese government and the people towards the Philippines. It is hoped that the Chinese vaccine will help the Philippines alleviate the epidemic and restore normal life as soon as possible.
The Philippine Ministry of Health reported on the 24th that there were 5,279 new confirmed cases in the country on the same day, and the cumulative number of confirmed cases has reached 2.75 million, and the cumulative death rate has exceeded 41,000.
On February 28 this year, the first batch of COVID-19 vaccines aided by China in the Philippines arrived in Manila. The Philippines officially launched COVID-19 vaccination on March 1.
