Unlike snakes, the shogunate may be dangerous when molting, and the shoveler needs to pay attention to careful observation

I looked at it, I have also written a lot of popular science articles about the keeping of the palace, I thought there was nothing to write, but today there was a newcomer friend in the group who had recently raised the palace and asked me a question about the molting of the palace, she was the first time to see the molting of the palace, a little panicked, so she came to ask me what I should pay attention to.

After answering her question, I suddenly had the idea of expanding this question into an article, because it undoubtedly provided me with a new material about the shougong, and it seems that this question is indeed a problem that many novice shovelers such as keeping the palace, raising snakes, and raising frogs will pay attention to.

So today I will tell you about the precautions for the molting of various climbing pets, and then talk about the shougong, because the lizard crawling pet molting is different from other climbing pet molts.

Unlike snakes, the shogunate may be dangerous when molting, and the shoveler needs to pay attention to careful observation

Moulting is a state and behavior that many animals in nature will appear, not only in the palace, but also in common molts such as shrimp, crabs, insects, spiders, scorpions, frogs, salamanders, snakes, lizards, turtles, etc., most of these animals are now refined... No, they have all been developed into pets, and they can basically be classified into the range of climbing pets.

Different kinds of animals, the molting method and manifestation of the form is also different, which requires the specific situation of the shovelers to analyze on a case-by-case basis.

Why do these animals need to molt? Quite simply, animals that need to molt have such characteristics, either they have exoskeletons, or the surface of the body is covered with scales or mucous membranes, or the body is partially specialized, thick and hard.

These animals will encounter stages of caton during the growth process, exoskeletons and specialized skin will limit their continued growth, and if you want to continue to grow and develop, you must take off the original exoskeleton or specialized skin in order to continue to grow, this process is called molting.

However, what everyone needs to know is that the molting method is not the same, some animals will molt a complete shell or a skin; some animals will molt in pieces or pieces, and the skin or shell that has been molted is not complete; some animals have a large period of "preview" before molting; and some animals Molt the process is very hidden, you don't even know when it has been molted, and even the skin that has been molted down cannot be found.

In this case, the skin is generally eaten by the animal itself, and many amphibians and reptiles do this.

Spiders are most often kept as pets by various bird-catching spiders, and these large hairy spiders, which are ugly in the eyes of outsiders, are full of charm in the eyes of enthusiasts.

Bird-catching spiders have certain omens before molting, including darkening in color, hiding, decreasing appetite, and not moving even if they poke it. There are three things to be aware of during the molting of bird spiders:

First, the shoveler must take out all other life forms in the feeding box except for the bird-catching spider to ensure that there is only one living bird-catching spider in the box, because the self-preservation ability of the bird-catching spider when molting is zero, and even the smallest bread worm may kill the bird spider when it molts;

Second, it is necessary to ensure that the humidity in the feeding box is greater than usual, and often spray water with a kettle, otherwise the bird-catching spider is likely to jam and die;

The third is not to feed during its molting period, do not disturb it casually, take the skin out after molting, and resume feeding after three or four days or a week.

Although frogs and salamanders have a soft and moist body surface, they will also undergo staged molting, and the skin that molts is a transparent film that will be eaten by themselves for nutrient recovery.

Turtles also molt, sometimes called molting, in the form of a balding sensation on the shell, and then the old skin falls down piece by piece, sometimes mistakenly thinking that it is sick by novice keepers.

Many people who don't know much about turtles may think that the molting of the turtle is the whole shell, which is wrong, because the shell of the turtle is essentially formed after the turtle's ribs, spine and skin are specialized, and it is firmly grown on the turtle, so even the molt is only the outermost layer of skin molting, not the entire shell is replaced, the fairy tale is deceitful.

Snakes have a long period of warning before molting, including decreased appetite, deterioration, graying, and most importantly, their eyes will be covered with a gray-white white film that looks like cataracts. This layer of white film is actually the old skin, and the inside of the white film is the new skin that is maturing.

The snake's eyes will return to normal after a few days of skinning, but it will not be long before it is skinned again, and the second eye skin indicates that it is about to molt. At this time, the shoveler also has three things to do:

First, ensure that there are enough rough items in the feeding box for rubbing when the snake molts;

Second, ensure that the humidity in the feeding box is sufficient;

Third, don't bother with it or feed it.

Compared to other reptiles, snake molting tends to be smoother because it is a straight and slippery one from beginning to end, and there is no place for forks.

When molting, the snake will lift the old skin from its mouth, rub it on the rough object, hang or squeeze the old skin and move the body forward until the old skin gradually sheds down and the tip of the tail is detached from the snake skin, at which point the molt ends.

If the shoveler finds it in time, he can take out the crumpled snake skin and soak it in water, carefully unfold it, and you can harvest a very complete snake skin, which is very collectible, and you can also compare it with more savings to see how big the snake can grow each time it molts.

The freshly molted snake is brightly colored, and the scales on the abdomen will have a rainbow reflection in the sun, which is quite beautiful.

Next, let's talk about the shogunate.

The molting form of the shougu is the same as that of other lizards, basically after the fresh skin or scales of the body mature, the old skin is cracked. When morphing, morphing, the palace will also rub on rough objects, and then turn around and bite the old skin on his body to tear it down and eat it.

Most other pets need to be shoveled when molting, but the shougu is different because it has limbs, toes, and these parts will degenerate when molting, and many shogunates can easily appear stuck in the toes, ear holes and elbows if there is a problem with the environment or feeding method.

When the morgue is stuck, they will bite the dead skin with their mouths and tear it, sometimes accidentally injuring themselves. If the old pickup is stuck in the joint area, it may also strangle the joint for a long time, resulting in blood unable to circulate normally, resulting in limb necrosis.

Therefore, the shoveler must pay attention to careful observation, if it is found that there are still dead skins stuck on the toes or joints after a few days of molting in the palace, you must take them out and use small forceps to help them tear off the old skin, the action must be gentle, it is best to soak them in water in advance, so that it will be easier to tear off the dead skin.
