After listening to the work report of the research group, on-site inspection, sampling and counting, and measurement, the expert group believes that the research has successfully established the artificial induction, larval breeding and artificial seedling technology of tower horseshoe snail, which initially has large-scale production capacity and laid a solid technical foundation for the conservation and breeding of tower horseshoe snails in China.
Tower-shaped horseshoe snail, commonly known as "white-faced snail", mainly lives in the lower intertidal zone of the warm water area to the shallow sea rock or coral reef seabed with a depth of about 10 meters, feeding on algae, which has high economic value and important ecological value. The research team successfully carried out two batches of artificial seedlings of tower-shaped horseshoe snails in 2018, and from April 2018 to the acceptance date, the number of juvenile snails was 130,000, the width of the snails was 12.10± 1.83mm, and from the batch to the acceptance date of June 2018, the number of naïve snails was 540,000, and the width of the snails was 686± 1.26mm.
