Male hippocampuses keep fertilized eggs in the broodstock sac until they develop and form before releasing them into the seawater.
May to August is the breeding season for seahorses. During this period, the seahorse mother lays the eggs in the nursery bag of the seahorse father's abdomen, and after 50 to 60 days, the young fish will be born from the seahorse father's nursery bag, so it is the seahorse father who is responsible for childcare. From August to September, the seahorse is in full bloom.
