In 1983
On October 15, 1983, Dongying City was officially established, and the inaugural meeting of Dongying City was held at the victory venue, and nearly 2,000 people from the city and oilfield participated in the conference.
From January 25 to 29, 2021, the "two sessions" in Dongying were successfully held. In 1984
On January 9, 1984, the provincial government announced that in principle, it agreed to approve the construction of Dongcheng in Dongying City to select more than 100 square kilometers of saline alkali land of more than 100 square kilometers of the Shaying Brigade, 15 kilometers east of Xicheng. Construction of the East Side began.
Since the Fourth Plenary Session of the Sixth Municipal Party Committee in 2018, Dongying has focused on the goal of "building a vibrant modern wetland city", focusing on highlighting the characteristics of wetland cities, and a beautiful picture of "blue and green intertwining, fresh and bright, wetlands in the city, and cities in wetlands" has been slowly unfolded.
In 1985
In September 1985, Shengli Oilfield built the country's first enterprise-owned airport - Dongying Airport.
In November 2001, Dongying Yong'an Airport resumed flights; in January 2011, the airport was renamed Dongying Shengli Airport; in February 2018, the 3,600-meter runway of Dongying Shengli Airport was officially opened; in July 2018, Dongying Shengli Airport welcomed the domestic C919 large passenger aircraft for the first time... Today, Dongying Shengli Airport has reached 22 cities and 24 airports.
In 1986
On January 1, 1986, the first commercial street in Dongying City, Shanghe Road Commercial Street, was opened. This year, Dongying Department Store and the Municipal Light Industry Products Exhibition Building were also completed and opened.
Nowadays, Dongying has formed a multi-polarized commercial territory with "Jinan Road and Xisi Road Commercial Circle", "Jinan Road and Xier road commercial circle", "Xicheng Wanda Plaza commercial circle", "Dongcheng Anju Engineering Commercial Circle" and "Dongcheng Wanda Plaza Commercial Circle".

On October 1, 1987, the Shengli Yellow River Bridge was opened to traffic, which was the first steel cable-stayed bridge built in China.
On December 24, 2012, the largest and longest railway steel structure bridge in the Yellow River Basin- The Deda Railway Longju Yellow River Special Bridge Helong. From the completion of the Shengli Yellow River Bridge and the Lijin Yellow River Bridge, to the opening of the Dongying Yellow River Highway Bridge, the completion of the Yellow River Special Bridge of the Deda Railway, and the construction of the Yellow River Special Bridge of the Huangda Railway, the history of bridge construction in Dongying has made the "natural graben" in the north and south of the Yellow River change the way, witnessing the take-off and great changes in Dongying.
In 1988
On July 1, 1988, Dongying Daily was officially released to the public for four editions.

On April 21, 1989, the first phase of the Dongcheng Construction Project was completed and put into use, and the Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal People's Congress and the Municipal Cppcc Committee moved to the new site.

In 1990
On December 21, 1990, the Dongying Municipal People's Government approved the establishment of the "Yellow River Delta Municipal Nature Reserve".
Today, the Yellow River Delta Nature Reserve has grown into the most complete, extensive and youngest wetland ecosystem in China's warm temperate zone, and an important transit station, wintering ground and breeding ground for migratory bird migration routes around the world. It is a national demonstration nature reserve, a national 5A-level tourist scenic spot, the hometown of China's oriental white stork, the hometown of China's black-billed gull, an internationally important wetland, and one of the six most beautiful wetlands in China.
In 1991
From January 27 to 30, 1991, the first Sun Wu Hometown Seminar was held in Guangrao. Through on-site investigation of cultural heritage and excavated cultural relics, it was confirmed that the place where Sun Wu ate was in present-day Guangrao.
On May 24, 2017, the Sun Tzu Cultural Park was inaugurated for the first time, the Sun Tzu Cultural Park was fully opened, and the statue of Sun Wu was unveiled to the world.
In 1992
On August 26, 1992, the route of passenger and ro-ro transport between Dongying and Lushun was officially opened, but it was suspended in 1997 due to the old ship and unstable frequency.
On August 23, 2013, the Ro-Ro transport route from Dongying to Lushun was officially resumed. From Dongying Port, get a good night's sleep to Lushun Port, becoming the best sea passage in the Yellow Triangle to connect to the Northeast Economic Zone.
In 1993
From December 22 to 26, 1993, the First Congress of the Communist Party of China in Dongying was held in Dongying.
On February 22, 2017, the Sixth Congress of the Communist Party of China in Dongying City was grandly opened at the Yellow River Film Theater.
In 1994
On December 10, 1994, Dongying City became an advanced city in plain greening in China.
In January 2020, 8 cities, including Dongying, were awarded the title of "2019 National Ecological Garden City", and Dongying was the only shortlisted city in Shandong Province.
In 1995
The Central Rural Work Conference held in 1995 made it clear that new granaries should be developed in the Yellow River Delta.
On November 4, 2016, the inaugural meeting of the Yellow River Delta Agricultural High-tech Industry Demonstration Zone was held in our city. The State Council's reply mentioned that the demonstration zone is included in the sequence of national high-tech industrial development zones, implements the current policy of national high-tech industrial development zones, and is the first state-level agricultural high-tech zone approved to be established after entering the new century.
In 1996
On March 10, 1996, the reconstruction project of The West City was fully started.

In 1997
In December 1997, Dongying Maritime Safety Supervision Bureau and Dongying Port of Shandong Province were formally established. Dongying port shore is officially opened to the public.
On the morning of September 28, 2017, the Dongying Maritime Bureau was inaugurated. Compared with the previous Dongying Maritime Department, the scope of the maritime area under the jurisdiction of the Dongying Maritime Bureau has been re-divided, and the area under its jurisdiction has increased, which has a positive impact on promoting the development of the maritime and shipping economy in Dongying.
In 1998
On September 28, 1998, Dongying New Century Square was completed, covering a total area of 170,000 square meters.
Nowadays, New Century Square has become a popular leisure, entertainment and fitness place for citizens, and a platform for the government to hold celebrations and cultural and sports activities, and also attracts many tourists to visit.
In 1999
On September 27, 1999, at the China International Agricultural Expo, the Yellow River Estuary Hair Crab and Yellow River Estuary Turtle selected and sent by Dongying City were rated as famous brand products, which was the first time that Dongying won the title of agricultural famous brand products.
On December 3, 2008, the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China officially approved the registration and protection of geographical indications of agricultural products for "hairy crabs at the mouth of the Yellow River". At present, Dongying has 6 national geographical indication protection products: Yellow River Estuary Rice, Yellow River Estuary Hairy Crab, Mawan Watermelon, Yellow River Estuary Peach, Dawang Qin Pepper and Yellow River Estuary Clam.
Year 2000
On September 16, 2000, the Dongqing Expressway, the expressway with the largest investment and the longest route since the establishment of Dongying City, was successfully completed and opened to traffic, and the construction of the expressway entered a new stage.
Nowadays, the Dongying Expressway network is smoothly connected and the national and provincial trunk roads are crisscrossed; the scale of flights covers the whole country, the freight railway has achieved remarkable results, and the city's public transportation has been continuously optimized... The formation of a three-dimensional transportation network has accelerated.
In 2001
On August 4, 2001, the Dongying City History Museum exhibited for the first time to the public the national first-class revolutionary cultural relics - the first surviving translation of China's Chinese "Communist Manifesto" published in August 1920.
In January 2012, Guangrao County built the "Communist Manifesto" Memorial Hall in Liujihou Village, Dawang Town, which has received more than 800,000 visits from party members inside and outside the province. On April 28, 2021, after renovation and upgrading, the exhibition hall of the Communist Manifesto was renamed and opened to the public. This is the first exhibition hall in the country with the theme of the Communist Manifesto.
In 2002
On December 13, 2002, the news came from the Mineral Resources Reserve Review Center of the Ministry of Land and Resources: Shengli Oilfield has added more than 100 million tons of new proven reserves for 20 consecutive years.
2021 marks the 60th anniversary of the discovery of the Shengli oil field. The front page of the People's Daily praised shengli oilfield: 81 oil and gas fields were discovered in 60 years, and the proven petroleum geological reserves were 5.587 billion tons.
In 2003
On October 9, 2003, the Municipal Library was officially opened.
Since 2015, the three major areas of the central urban area have stepped up their development, and one after another "cultural landmarks" such as the new library, the science and technology museum, the Youth Palace, the Xuelian Grand Theater, the Lu Opera Museum, the Yellow River Culture Museum, and the Olympic Sports Center have been born. On December 4, 2004, the unveiling ceremony of "Birthplace of Lü Opera" was held in Shijia Village, Niuzhuang Town, Dongying District.
In 2008, "Dongying Lv Opera" was rated as a national intangible cultural heritage project. In 2020, the Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism selected Dongying as a national pilot city for "Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Community", and intangible cultural heritage approached the citizens.
In 2005
On October 26, 2005, Dongying City won the title of "National Advanced City for Creating a Civilized City". In the same year, it was named the first batch of civilized cities in Shandong Province.
On November 20, 2020, the National Commendation Conference for the Construction of Spiritual Civilization was held in Beijing. Dongying City confirmed that it will continue to retain the honorary title of National Civilized City, and since it was first awarded the title of National Civilized City in 2015 and successfully won the title in 2017, it has successfully achieved the "triple crown" of the creation of a national civilized city.
In 2006
In April 2006, Dongying Port Economic Development Zone was established, which is the core park of Dongying Refining and Chemical Integration Zone in the "Lubei High-end Petrochemical Industry Base Development Plan (2018-2025)". Dongying Port is a national first-class open port, which is the regional central port of the Yellow River Delta and the bridgehead of opening up to the outside world as determined by the "Development Plan for the Efficient Ecological Economic Zone of the Yellow River Delta".
In recent years, in accordance with the overall layout of "port integration and trinity", Dongying Port Economic Development Zone has adhered to regional integration, promoted the development of upstream and downstream industrial coordination, intensive agglomeration clusters, and concentrated on building the core area of Lubei high-end petrochemical industry base. It has been awarded the titles of "China Petroleum and Chemical (Dongying Port) Industrial Zone", "National Green Industrial Park", "National Green Chemical Park", and the first batch of "Shandong Chemical Industry Demonstration Park"; in 2020, it ranked 13th in the assessment and evaluation of provincial development zones, ranked 7th in the national chemical park ranking, and the economic development has entered a new stage of high quality.
In 2007
On March 30, 2007, Dongying City became the first city in China to realize the "five links" of village-to-village highways, buses, running water, cable TV and computer networking in rural areas.
In December 2013, the "Comprehensive Development Plan for the Yellow River South Exhibition Area" was officially approved by the Shandong Provincial Government. Since the implementation of the relocation and transformation project of the villages in the South Exhibition Area of the Yellow River, the residents of the exhibition area have completely bid farewell to the days of "one body of soil on sunny days and one body of mud on rainy days" and transformed into a convenient and perfect new rural community.
In 2008
On October 11, 2008, the first Yellow River Estuary Marathon National Invitational Tournament was launched, and Dongying pushed open the door to world-class sports events.
Over the years, the Yellow River Estuary (Dongying) International Marathon has been rated as the "Gold Medal Event" of the National Marathon, the "Gold Label Event" of the IAAF and the Fastest Growing Marathon Event in China. Dongying has also held sports events such as the Yellow River Estuary (Dongying) Road Bicycle Race, the Yellow River Triathlon Championship and the Yellow River Into the Sea Ecological Ironman Sports Tourism Exhibition, which has become a beautiful city business card and expanded the popularity and influence of the Yellow River Delta region at home and abroad.
In 2009
In 2009, the State Council officially approved the Development Plan for the Efficient Ecological Economic Zone of the Yellow River Delta.
In 2011, the State Council officially approved the Development Plan for the Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone. Dongying became the only city to be fully integrated into the two national strategies.
In 2010
In 2010, the General Office of the State Council approved the upgrading of Dongying Economic and Technological Development Zone to a state-level economic and technological development zone, named Dongying Economic and Technological Development Zone.
Nowadays, Dongying Economic and Technological Development Zone is seizing the major national strategic opportunities of ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin, concentrating on the implementation of the "1+499" work system, and striving to be at the forefront and leading the way in the process of promoting the construction of a high-level modern and strong city.
In 2011
On the morning of June 30, 2011, Dongying City's conference to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China was solemnly held at the Yellow River Film Theater, reviewing the glorious history of the party, remembering the party's great achievements, encouraging the majority of party members in the city to strengthen the party's belief, practice the party's purpose, and unite and lead the people of the city to push forward the various undertakings of Dongying.
In 2012
On November 2, 2012, Dongying passed the review of "China Wetland City".
On October 25, 2018, Dongying became one of the first "International Wetland Cities", and only 18 cities in the world were selected.
In 2013
In August 2013, the construction of Guangli Port began.
On September 28, 2017, Guangli Port opened for navigation.
In 2014
On September 22, 2014, the Municipal Garden Expo Park was opened.
Nowadays, the Botanical Garden, Qingfeng Lake Park, Mingtan Park, Gengjing Park, Qiuyue Lake Park, Guanglihe Forest Wetland Park, Mingyue Lake Wetland Park and other exquisite and unique urban parks decorate the scenery of Dongying and enrich the lives of citizens.
In 2015
On March 28, 2015, the large-scale epic feature film "The Great Tinder", which focused on the dissemination of China's first edition of the Communist Manifesto, was launched in Beijing.
On the evening of June 19, 2021, the large-scale red musical "The Light Chaser", based on the true deeds of Li Yunsheng, a revolutionary martyr from Guangrao, Dongying, premiered at the Xuelian Grand Theater, which is a fine literary and artistic drama dedicated to the centenary of the founding of the party in our city.
In 2016
In 2016, the State Council approved the Dongying City Master Plan (2011-2020), which clarified that Dongying is the central city of the Yellow River Delta. Dongying City is integrated into the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei. Kenli county is divided into districts. The Yellow River Delta Agricultural High-tech Industry Demonstration Zone was established.
In 2017
On October 30, 2017, the Yellow River Delta Bird Museum, the largest thematic museum of birds in China, was officially opened.
On October 18, 2017, the G18 cross-line bridge of The South 1st Expressway was successfully closed. On December 30, 2018, the South 1st Expressway was officially opened, shortening the traffic time between the east and west cities by at least half.
In 2018
On September 1, 2018, the Fourth Plenary Session of the Sixth Committee of the Communist Party of China In Dongying City was held, which established the goal of Dongying to "build a growth pole for Shandong's high-quality development, a cultural tourism destination for the Yellow River into the sea, and a vibrant modern wetland city".
On October 26, 2018, the micro-video "Dongying One Minute" carefully planned and launched by the Rong Media Center of Dongying Daily was forwarded by the Xinhua News Agency client, people's video, and "Learning to Strengthen the Country", with more than one million views, taking the people of the whole country to appreciate the unique style of the youngest land in the republic.

On September 18, 2019, General Secretary Xi Jinping presided over the symposium on ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin and delivered an important speech, and the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin rose to a major national strategy. On October 9, Li Kuanduan, secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, and Li Qun, director of the Yellow River Affairs Bureau of Shandong, held a special meeting to deeply study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech, study the ideas and measures to promote the ecological protection of the Yellow River Delta, and said that we should firmly seize and make good use of this major historical opportunity to build the Yellow River Delta into a model area and pioneer area for ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin.
In 2020
On April 14, 2020, the third batch of 37 members of the Dongying City Aid-E Medical Team was triumphant, and the city welcomed the hero home with the highest courtesy. So far, all 77 medical team members sent by our city have returned safely. In December, Dongying adopted the implementation plan for ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Delta, and determined the long-term goal of building a high-level modern and strong city.
In 2021
On February 28, 2021, the Dongying City Party History Study and Education Mobilization Conference was held to mobilize and deploy the city's Party history study and education. Dongying has carried out a variety of activities in combination with the actual situation, setting off a wave of party history study in various parts of the city, and allowing the century-old party history to "fly into the homes of ordinary people".
On March 16, 2021, the opening ceremony of the R&D base of the National Rare Earth Catalysis Research Institute and the opening ceremony of the Rare Earth Catalysis Industrial Park were held, which will provide strong support for the rapid development of Dongying rare earth catalysis and other industries, and will provide strong support for the development of the national new material industry and economic transformation and upgrading.
