City have the upper hand in the move of Erlin Haaland

Dortmund striker Errin Haaland will reportedly be selling at a lower price next summer, when his release clause comes into effect – City could have an advantage.

The Dortmund striker is said to be considering a proposal to replace the sponsor – Manchester City's shirt sponsor Puma says it is preparing a huge offer to sign him.

According to the Daily Star, the sports manufacturing giant wants to sign the £150 million Norwegian striker as their new poster face and will offer up to £50 million over four years to lure him away from his current sneaker sponsor Nike.

Haaland's contract with Nike is still two years away, but Puma's existing BVB sponsorship could give the sports giant an edge in signing players.

If he does make a change, Premier League champions Manchester City could fall into the heels in their pursuit of Haaland – thanks to their close business relationship with Puma.

In addition to the around £650 million, 10-year long-term equipment contract reached in 2019, Guardiola, Kyle Walker, Ederson and Oleksandr Zinchenko have all signed separate contracts with the German company.

Next summer, when his release clause comes into effect, the £150 million genius will be sold for a cheaper price.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has publicly praised Haaland, calling the prolific striker a "force of nature".

Asked about Haaland, he told the German publication Bild: "It is of course dangerous to have such an extraordinary talent. ”

"This boy is a force of nature. When he celebrated scoring, he hit the ball on the ground, so I'm not sure if there are dents on the ground.

"Sooner or later he will have discussions with the big clubs. I don't know if that will be the case next year, but Dortmund will have to fight back. ”
