This morning (17th), the ship formation composed of the Meishan and Xiushan ships of the China Coast Guard successfully completed the "Pacific Cruise-2024" Sino-Russian Coast Guard joint exercise and patrol and returned to Hong Kong smoothly.
At about 10 o'clock in the morning, the Meishan and Xiushan warships of the coast guard docked at the wharf in turn, and the Second Bureau directly under the China Coast Guard held a grand welcome ceremony at the wharf to welcome the triumph of the formation.
The formation set sail from Zhoushan on September 13, entered the Arctic Ocean through the Sea of Japan, the Sea of Okhotsk, the Bering Sea and the Chukchi Sea, and returned to Zhoushan on October 17, lasting 35 days, with a total voyage of more than 17,000 nautical miles and a total of more than 1,200 hours of sailing, cruising all the way, law enforcement all the way, training all the way, research all the way and testing all the way, and successfully completed the "Pacific Cruise-2024" Sino-Russian coast guard joint exercise and patrol. This mission is a routine arrangement within the annual plan of the China Coast Guard, which is not aimed at any specific target, region or country, is in line with international law and practice, and has nothing to do with the current international situation and regional situation.
From September 16 to 20, the two sides jointly held a series of activities such as an open day for ships, a deck reception, and cultural and sports exchanges, and carried out joint search for ships, intercepting and boarding suspected criminal vessels, and rescuing people overboard and burning ships in the waters near Peter the Great Bay in Russia, testing the ability of the two sides to jointly respond to maritime security risks.
After the joint patrol stage was transferred to September 21, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the United Nations General Assembly resolution 46/215 and the Convention on the Conservation and Management of Fishery Resources in the High Seas of the North Pacific, the ships of the two sides tacitly cooperated and coordinated efficiently, formed a formation for the first time to enter the high seas of the North Pacific joint patrol, carried out inspection and supervision of operating vessels in accordance with the law, and actively maintained the order of fishery production in the high seas of the North Pacific. During this period, the two sides also jointly completed joint search and rescue exercises, joint damage management and life-saving, and joint search for illegal vessels.
The joint exercise and patrol of the China-Russia coast guard is of great significance for consolidating and developing the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination in the new era, deepening mutual trust and cooperation between the coast guards of the two countries, and maintaining security and stability in the North Pacific Ocean.
In the next step, the CCG will pragmatically carry out bilateral and multilateral maritime law enforcement cooperation, actively participate in international and regional maritime governance, effectively fulfill its international obligations, and demonstrate its responsibility as a major country.
