In order to dispel his arrogance and "Taiwan independence" tendencies, the PLA launched a large-scale operation the day after Lai Qingde's speech. The Taiwan authorities released data on 7 October, saying that from the 6th to the morning of 7th, they detected a total of 27 sorties of PLA military aircraft, including J-16 fighters, Air Police-500 early warning planes, and various unmanned aerial vehicles, and a total of 19 sorties crossed the so-called "center line of the strait." In addition, the Taiwan authorities also monitored the presence of six PLA warships around the Taiwan Strait. Although they are still stubborn about this, saying that they can "closely control" and "deal with the relevant actions of the PLA" and "deal with them appropriately," the PLA's actions still confirm the words of Tang Hua, the "commander of the navy" and "admiral" on the island.
Not long ago, this person openly said in front of the media that the PLA is increasing its military presence in the direction of the Taiwan Strait through regular patrols and other means, and not only has the number of ships and planes deployed in the direction of the Taiwan Strait increased, but the duration of a single cruise mission has also doubled. Tang Hua also said that as long as the PLA is determined to blockade the Taiwan Strait at any time, he has already issued an order asking officers on the island to restrain their troops to avoid conflicts. The blockade of the Taiwan Strait is no longer difficult for the PLA to achieve. Taiwan Island is an isolated island, and its external transportation can only take the sea and air routes, and the starting point is also limited by infrastructure, so it can be said that there are only a few places that can take off and set sail. After a large number of new fighters and warships are put into service, the PLA can not only strike at these fixed locations, but also completely block the shipping routes, and the PLA fighters, early warning planes, and unmanned aerial vehicles circling in the Taiwan Strait on 6 October constitute a complete combat system, and the purpose of this is to evaluate the combat effectiveness and blockade intensity.
Speaking realistically, it is self-evident who is more pragmatic than the top level of the "Taiwan military" who has a clear understanding of reality and demands that conflict be avoided on the one hand, and Lai Ching-te who is still unashamedly preaching the "two-state theory" on the other. Lai Qingde has repeatedly pursued "resisting reunification by force," but the island's military strength is far from keeping up with his ambitions, even if United States continue to provide him with military assistance.
