Since July this year, our district has launched a "suitable for the elderly" housing renovation project for the elderly who are living in difficulty. The project is mainly based on the safety, accessibility and comfort of the indoor living environment for the elderly, and the project progress has been completed about half, and it is expected that all construction will be completed by the end of October this year.
In the home of Zhou Jinjun, a villager in Nongjian Village, Jinshanwei Town, the kitchen and bathroom have a new look, and Zhou Jinjun's mother is over 90 years old.

Today, the kitchen is equipped with new gas stoves, range hoods and sinks, as well as bright cabinets and countertops, making the whole kitchen functional and beautiful. The renovation of the restroom is also meticulous, with the new toilet not only stable and easy to clean, but also the addition of handrails next to it to provide solid support for the elderly to use the toilet, greatly reducing the risk of falling.
At the home of Yang Chunxing, a villager in Xupu Village, High-tech Zone, the construction of the project is in full swing, and Yang Chunxing's mother is 88 years old this year and suffers from Almerzheimer's disease. In order to facilitate the living of the elderly, the construction team is in full swing to update the kitchen and bathroom facilities, including tiling, wall painting, and the installation of kitchen stove facilities. In addition, the construction crew also created a new space in the room dedicated to the construction of the bathroom.
Wu Gubin, the person in charge of the construction at the project site, said: "Some elderly people do not have a separate bathroom, so we built one for them, and installed toilets and handrails for the elderly to make their lives more convenient." ”
It is understood that in order to continue to improve the living environment of the elderly families in rural households with living difficulties, our district has continued to carry out the "suitable for the elderly" housing renovation project every year since 2014. This year, the project covered 9 towns and high-tech zones in the district, and renovated 60 beneficiary families, with an average of 30,000 yuan per household and a total of 1.8 million yuan.
The District Health and Development Center will continue to do a good job in providing services to the elderly for rural households in difficulty, so that the elderly will have a stronger sense of gain, higher satisfaction and a happier life.
