The world's largest, grid-connected power generation!

On September 20, according to China National Nuclear Corporation, the world's largest molten salt "linear Fresnel" new energy solar thermal power station - Gansu Yumen 100,000 kilowatt solar thermal power station connected to the grid for power generation.

CSP power stations are connected to the grid for power generation

The 100,000 kW CSP power station in Yumen, Gansu Province is located on the Gobi Desert in Huahai Town, Yumen City. The project uses solar heat collection area of 1.3 million square meters, uses molten salt as the medium to absorb and store solar heat, and is equipped with an 8-hour molten salt heat storage system.

After the 100,000 kW CSP power station project is connected to the grid, it will form a demonstration project of "CSP energy storage + photovoltaic + wind power" in Yumen together with the 400,000 kW photovoltaic power generation project, 200,000 kW wind power generation project and one 330 kV energy storage station that has been completed. The project has a total installed capacity of 700,000 kilowatts, a total investment of 4.9 billion yuan, and an annual on-grid new energy power generation capacity of about 1.735 billion kWh, which can provide electricity for 3.5 million households for a year. The project is equivalent to saving 521,000 tons of standard coal and planting 1.4 million mu of afforestation, with significant economic and ecological benefits.

It is understood that the power of the project will be transmitted to Sichuan, Chongqing and Zhejiang through the west to the east.

What is molten salt "linear Fresnel" technology?

The molten salt "linear Fresnel" technology is a type of solar thermal power generation technology. It uses the principle of reflection and refraction of light proposed by France physicist Fresnel to generate electricity through the conversion of solar energy. Previously, the "linear Fresnel" technology was used internationally, and only experimental power stations were built in Spain, and no commercial operation was put into operation. The grid-connected 100,000 kW CSP power station in Yumen means that China is in a leading position in the world in the application technology of solar power generation.

According to the different technical routes of concentrated solar thermal power generation, solar thermal power generation projects can be divided into four types: tower, trough, dish and linear Fresnel. "Linear Fresnel" solar thermal power generation is to use a plurality of primary mirrors placed close to the ground to dynamically track the movement of the sun, reflect the sunlight to the secondary mirror installed at a high place, through the secondary reflection, the solar radiation is concentrated on the collector tube, and the low-temperature molten salt of 290 degrees Celsius is heated to 550 degrees Celsius to form high-temperature steam power generation.

Compared with the other three technical routes, the linear Fresnel collector system is less difficult to construct, more convenient to maintain, and more safe. The Yumen 100,000 kW CSP station is the world's second commercial linear Fresnel CSP station.

The completion of the project will effectively alleviate the volatility of wind power and photovoltaic new energy power generation, improve the power grid's ability to accept new energy, effectively solve the bottleneck of the current large-scale development of new energy bases, and accelerate the construction of a new power system with new energy as the main body, which is of great demonstration significance for the full implementation of the dual carbon goal.
